This is just sickening! I can't believe with the storms and how cold it was last night, this parent ( and I use that word lightly) could think of leaving a sleeping child in a car at 3:00am!

Missing girl found

From Staff and Wire Reports

EL RENO — A 3-year-old girl whose disappearance was cause for issuing an Amber Alert early Monday was found.

Authorities said the alert was issued after a pickup Alyssa Lopez was sleeping in was taken from outside the Lucky Star Casino in El Reno about 3:15 a.m.

About 6:45 a.m., the alert was canceled after the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the girl had been found.
Additional details, including the girl's condition, were not immediately available.

I will be interested to hear the result of this story. There was something similar that happened recently at Remington Park. A "mother" left a child out in the car while she went inside and played the ponies. I guess she thought it was okay because she left food, etc. with the kid in the car . . .

I'd be tempted to kidnap any child I saw in that situation and deliver them to Child Protective Services. If the pickup was taken, it was probably because the parents left the keys in the car. They may have even left it running. They have just flunked the intelligence test one should be required to pass to have children.

The grandfather is the sole guardian of the child.

Poor baby!

Also my understanding is that the department that was looking into this matter waited 2 or 4 hours to get the amber alert out. Why they did that I guess time will tell.

They could have been waiting for all the details before issuing the alert. Almost every Amber Alert here in Oklahoma has been a false alarm. It was probably better to issue a BOLO instead. Police officers and Paramedics are the only people on the streets that are fully alert that time of night/morning.

Oh GAWD the Smell!

Not true. Hobos are in rare form at 4 am.

My guess is that they waited to make sure a custodial parent wasn't involved... because if I were the parent and knew gramps had my child in a parked car in the cold at 3:00am... no court order would stop me from taking that kid back.. but, like I said, it's a guess.. who really knows what happened?

This is the reason I want to throw rocks at people. Again with the responsibility issue...if you can't put them first, don't have them. It makes you wonder what the parents did so wrong that would allow these grandparents to have custody. Because they seem to be doing such a great job.
You know, what always gets me is that people say "it was storming outside" or "it was over 100 degrees" .....HELLO!!! Does it really matter? Even if it was a comfortable 72 outside and sunny....KIDS SHOULDN'T BE LEFT ALONE IN CARS!! outside a casino or bar!? really?! grrrr.

oh yeah, the weather isn't really important, it just adds insult to injury when someone can't figure out that you shouldn't leave kids alone in a car and then subject them to unbearable weather conditions.

It's so frustrating.. they keep popping 'em out.

It is truly unbelievable the stupidity of some people. How could you possibly justify leaving a child in a car while you go in anywhere. He is obviously no better a parent than the real parents. The mother must have learned her parenting skills from him. I think he should be charged with child endangerment and that is not severe enough. A multitude of things could have happened to her.

From what I understood from seeing it on the news was it was a planned kidnapping between the grandfather and the abducter.

There's alot of bad news stories out there these days but I just can't stand when they involve children and there seem to be alot of those these days. I'm thinking of lobbying for a law that states anyone who endagers a child (beating, sexual, neglect, etc.) will be taken out to the middle of nowhere with me and baseball bat for me to beat the living daylights out of them. Not to kill, just to maim. Or make them a vegatable.
