Seven years ago today, the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Cole was attacked by Islamic terrorists (http://www.cole.navy.mil/) associated with Osama bin Laden's al-Quaeda group while on a scheduled refueling stop in Arden, Yemen. Seventeen American sailors were killed and thirty-nine injured in the attack which severely damaged the ship.

Not much mention of it on the major news outlets unfortunately. Too caught up in the Gore Nobel Peace prize mania I suppose. :Smiley099

A good example of why the rule to dog watertight hatches behind you was made.

That always annoyed me on Navy ships, but it's full impact sinks in when you see a ship take that kind of damage and stay afloat.
