The number 23 was good mostly because you are kept guessing until the end. plus, it's nice to see jim carrey do something that isn't quite "typical" of him!

and shooter........I liked it, but it was your typical 1 against the gov't assisnation/conspiracy theory..........but those are some of my favorite types!

and just from the grapevine, I heard that the assassination of jesse james wasn't all that great........

I should have seen this before I left for the video store. I have Knocked Up ( saw it at the theater) and I got stuck with 30,000 Leagues Under the Sea - remake...lol... why!!!??????
(kids!)

Anyway, I liked the Ultimate Gift... Hated, hated, hated Dragon Wars - left the theater early for the first time in years... maybe ever?

I loved Reign over Me. boo hooed through that one! I also liked Disturbia & Evan Almighty .. certainly worth a rental.. but maybe not full price movie cost.

Thanks for the list! I'll check out some of those at Hollywood video this weekend.

Yes, I saw it at OKCMOA. I don't think it ever made the "commercial" venues.

Loved Pan's Labyrinth.. so hauntingly beautiful.. but very sad and very graphic..

It looks like a fairytale but it's not for the kiddos at all. (Although I took my 14 year old who loved it and was playing the music on his violin that night.. but he's pretty mature).. I wouldn't let anyone younger watch it .. it is disturbing.

I'm going to print out these lists.. I have the Hollywood Video subscription that let's me check out 2 movies at a time and keep them with no late charges.. so I've seen a lot of movies.. but a lot of crap too!

I want to see some good movies!

If you liked that, go rent 300.

And yeah, I REALLY liked the new Bond.

I've had Pan's Labyrinth laying on the counter for a month now. I guess I should watch it so Netflix can have it back.

ogts... What did you think of Pan's Labyrinth?

Or are you too depressed to comment on it?

It is a dark movie... I want to hear what you thought about it.

JackWonder, I actually really enjoyed Transformers for the sheer entertainment and action. It's a definite must see on the big screen..

I hated Superman 3, too!

I'm looking forward to seeing Heartbreak Kid with Ben Stiller this Friday .. I love his comedy.

Yeah, you literally can't take TF too seriously, because if you've ever seen the 80s cartoons or not, they are a complete mess storywise.

As well, the entire concept is built around selling toys so for Paramount/Bay/Spielberg & co. to come away with any sort of feasible story would be a major breakthrough....And they did.

Tack on the fact that the special effects were what most movies set out to do and fail; and that is bring something new and original to life that dazzles and entertains...And they did.

Just for fun, throw in the fact that I've always liked the creative aspect of Transformers and the sheer Goosebump Factor I got BOTH times I saw the movie, and it gives me sound reason to make it my #1 movie of 2007.....Even though it's not high-caliber Oscar fare. :)

The special effects alone are worth watching it.

Transformers... I can't even tell you how many hours I've spent trying to transform the toys! Megatron! ha! Of course, the kids can do it with their eyes closed ... me, on the other hand.. not so much.

Here is the official synopsis. No DVD release date yet.

Fifty years from now, the sun is dying, and mankind is dying with it. Our last hope: a spaceship and a crew of eight men and women. They carry a device which will breathe new life into the star. But deep into their voyage, out of radio contact with Earth, their mission is starting to unravel. There is an accident, a fatal mistake, and a distress beacon from a spaceship that disappeared seven years earlier. Soon the crew is fighting not only for their lives, but their sanity. Man's last hope lies with a heroic group of eight astronauts and scientists aboard the spaceship Icarus II charged with delivering a stellar fission bomb into the heart of the sun.

Just saw Heartbreak Kid... pretty funny stuff.. there are a few parts that were seriously hilarious...

I just hate that they show so much of the movie in previews... half the stuff I saw in the movie I'd already seen on the commercials.

Plus, I was a little irritated.. We got passes from our dentist for a referral... and we presented them tonight and the clerk says he can't take them ... he says it's on line 4 - Special Engagement.. 'what'?

I said, 'this isn't a special engagement, this is a regular showing of a regular movie .. he says it is their policy to wait 10 days after the movie is out before taking a pass'.. it doesn't say that anywhere on the pass. But, I wasn't wanting to be late so we just paid but it bugged me.

*Edit, Even though it doesn't say it on the pass, I did look at the website this morning and the movie was listed as a Special Engagement.. I guess they do that for movies that first come out.

OH well, it was worth the $20.00.. it was really funny.

Okay, that was such a twilight zone moment, I can't believe it.. I was just starting to post ' JBrown, do you know when Sunshine comes out and I read your last post!' doo, doo, doo do.. Twilight Zone music!

I'm in agreement with most of your list..

Gone Baby Gone has to be one of the most depressing movies ever.

Bug, didn't care for it.

Alpha Dog.. very sad but a great movie.

I watched Reign Over Me twice this week.. I love that movie.

My new favorite funny is Hot Rod. Goofy beyond belief but I find it very hilarious.

just looking at the 'to see' list... i thought smokin' aces was so-so. interesting concept, but not the best execution imo.

28 weeks later, though... saw that over halloween and it was hilarious. as a movie it reeked, but with friends it was fun to make fun of. the movie is beyond retarded.

i haven't gotten into bond movies for awhile, but i thought casino royale was great. definitely a refreshing take on a tired franchise.

anyone interested in golden compass? -M

Well I'll be dad-gummed. Sure was.

You should see it. As I said...I'm not much of a Bond fan. I've always enjoyed watching them, but never made a point out of it or looked forward to seeing another. I only watched them in passing. I'll be all over the next one.

And I'm with mmm on Smokin' Aces. I really didn't like it. Tried WAY too hard to be cool and complicated, resulting in neither. It kind of reminded me of Cats, in that they spend 99% of the thing in character development and 1% in actual story.

I really loved Into the Wild.

I didn't care for The Invisible.

I thought 28 Weeks was Scary!

Well I'll be dad-gummed. Sure was.

You should see it. As I said...I'm not much of a Bond fan. I've always enjoyed watching them, but never made a point out of it or looked forward to seeing another. I only watched them in passing. I'll be all over the next one.

!!!!!!!! How can anyone be not much of a Bond fan. That hurts my heart. Casino Royal and Daniel Craig are great, the best since Roger Moore in Octo*****. However Roger will always be the best Bond in my heart. I just had deja-vu, I think I posted this exact same thing in another thread a long time ago.

Oh GAWD the Smell!

Oh...Bond is always entertaining. I'm just not a die-hard Bond fan. I like Roger Moore best, Pierce second, and Craig 3rd. I never liked Connery until he turned gray.

But Craig is a whole different animal. He's got a lot more action in him than any of the previous Bonds. So he's got that potential there.

I had to come back to this post because I got mixed up with 28 Weeks ( which I am now stating SUCKED!)

and Resident Evil Extinction which was Scary and I thought pretty good!

I love SuperBad. It is crass with tons of college humor and very graphic sexually but even still.. I loved it!
