I liked your focus on people and their dress ... one sees lots of cowboy hats these days, at the fair and elsewhere, but, interestingly, cowboy hats were NOT the thing in early days of Oklahoma City. For example, look at the hats in this 1911 trolley strike picture ...

JBrown84 and Doug- what kind of cameras do you use? We have a cheap Target digital camera but my wife wants to buy a new one soon. Any recommendation? We are looking in the $1000 range.

I have a Canon Digital Rebel XTi, which is a professional SLR and runs right about $1000.

Mine is an Olympus E-500 SLR ... got it at Sams in March 07 for about $800 ... it comes with an extra telephoto lens but I have rarely used it.

My husband is a "hat" guy and I hear about hats all the time. Constantly, truth be known. :tiphat: Good observation on the lack of cowboy hats in the vintage photos. Check out sites like the Fedora Lounge to see what sort of hat wear for a given period is authentic.

I was expecting to see less classy and more carny. :(
