View Full Version : Ideas for a large class reunion?

Next summer (mid-June) I'll be organizing a class reunion for about 250 people.

I've done several of these and have always been proud of choosing a somewhat unique and interesting location that also worked really well for our group. For example, we had out 10-year at the Leadership Square Atrium not long after that building opened. Our 25-year was at the Bricktown Events Center, with two huge video screens on either side of the stage.

I really like to choose places that showcase something cool about OKC, as we get lots of people coming for out of town plus lots of the locals haven't seen some of these places, either.

I've checked into the Chesapeake Boathouse but I'm afraid that will be a little small, although it's still an option.

I also thought about McNellie's, as it would be open by that time and perhaps the upstairs area would be big enough -- but probably not.

I know Banta has talked about having an event center in Midtown.

And the Hall of Mirrors at the Civic Center would work but it's a bit formal for what we typically do.

So, what am I missing? Would great appreciate any ideas as I'll be in town next week and want to scout some locations.

Thanks in advance!

The Santa Fe Railroad station is nice (over by Bricktown), or I'm pretty sure you can rent out the lobby of the 1st National Bank building.

The later is INCREDIBLE. Probably the nicest art-deco interior I've seen anywhere.

I once helped set up a black tie formal on the museum floor at the omniplex. That was pretty fun :)

(and they are ridiculously inexpensive).

Not sure about the Cool aspect but Cowboy Museum National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum (http://www.nationalcowboymuseum.org/m_rent.html)

"From Elegant to Understated...
The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum is the perfect site for any special event. You and your guests can enjoy a day or evening in one of the Nation's premier museums. Whether in the Sam Noble Special Events Center (http://www.nationalcowboymuseum.org/m_rent_se.html), the S.B. "Burk" Burnett Board Room (http://www.nationalcowboymuseum.org/m_rent_br.html), or on the Western States Plaza (http://www.nationalcowboymuseum.org/m_rent_pz.html), a beautiful outdoor setting, the Museum provides an atmosphere that is second to none.

Under the best of circumstances, event planning can be a challenge. You can feel confident, with assistance from our professional staff, that your banquet or meeting is the best it can be. We encourage the "full circle" method of event planning which ensures that all details are carefully considered in the early stages of planning. Our staff will assist you in walking full circle through your event, as the guest, determining the guest's needs and expectations from the moment they arrive, until they leave our doors. It is our goal that each and every guest have the best experience possible at our facility.

One of the greatest benefits we offer meeting planners is the flexibility to select your own caterer, as we do not have exclusive or on-site catering. We can assist you with a Catering Guide (http://www.nationalcowboymuseum.org/m_rent.html#catering) comprised of local caterers who have established a rapport with us and our clients.

Because we are a museum, our policies (http://www.nationalcowboymuseum.org/m_rent.html#policies) differ from those of a hotel or convention center. We ask that you observe our guidelines so that all visitors may enjoy the facility.

At the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, your special event becomes a unique and memorable occasion.

I'm pretty sure for rental of the Great Banking Hall, you'd need to contact Emily Dobson, the property manager for FNC.

The First National Bank on N. Western isn't affiliated with First National Center, as far as I know, except in name.
