Call me crazy...But let's start out with not having a person making $11,000 a year handling both the entire cash flow of the branch and the general ledgers

Covered up taking several million for four years?

Quite a security department ya got there BancFirst

MUSKOGEE — A former bank vault supervisor pleaded guilty on Thursday to making false entries to cover up the disappearance of $3.3 million over a four-year period from a BancFirst branch in Seminole.

Lisa Marlene Hand, 41, pleaded guilty to two counts of false entry in the books of an FDIC-insured bank as part of an agreement with prosecutors in Oklahoma's Eastern District Federal Court.

Hand, of Seminole, also agreed to forfeit any cash or property acquired through the crime.

Two plots of Seminole County land she owned have been seized and sold along with five pickups, a juke box, a Rolex watch and a pool table, according to court documents.

Hand claims she didn't take the money, which went missing from the vault between July 2001 and June 2005, Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Wallace said.

Hand said she only falsified the records to cover up the lost money.

No one else has been charged or arrested in the case.

Wallace said authorities "presume” that Hand spent most of the missing money.

Wallace earlier said Hand "had an awful lot of assets for someone taking home $11,000 a year.”

Hand controlled the cash flow in and out of the Seminole branch's vault, teller drawers and automated teller machines.

She also reconciled daily vault reports and general ledger accounts at the bank, records show.

Yep... only people who work part time at minimum wage are dishonest, right?

It's always suspect when someone who is doing a job which requires a lot of trust and/or involves being responsible for the flow of a great deal of money is working for chump change.

-- you know.. ulterior motives and such.

Oh GAWD the Smell!
