I know this news is a week or so old now, but I didn't see anyone post it and it's worth visiting.

OKC's City Council approves $758.1 million fiscal year 2007-08 budget

The City Council announced today they approved a budget of $758,124,914 for the City in the 2007-08 fiscal year June 12.

The budget includes funding for operations such as airports, Water and Wastewater, Solid Waste, The Oklahoma City Zoo and Transit, as well as funds for capital projects such as street improvements and the MAPS for Kids program.

The General Fund’s $335,249,577 budget represents an increase of about 3 percent from the fiscal year 2006-07 revenues. It pays for most day-to-day operations. In fiscal year 2007-08, 63.1 percent of the General Fund budget will be spent on public safety functions which include Police, Fire, Courts, Animal Welfare and support for EMSA.


In addition to the items recommended by the City Manager in the budget, the council approved a list of council priority items that total $1.3 million dollars. Those projects include $292,000 for the police department’s DARE program; $115,000 for Homeless Alliance and additional staffing to enhance the City’s ability to complete more street projects.
