Has anybody been yet? Make twice for me, friday nights is guys nights they give you 10 bucks to play on, monday is ladies night same deal. It a good way to get out for a bit on friday nights, we hit good on one machine and walked away with about 120 bucks winnings. Used some of that and ate there at a palce called the willow buffet, friday nights is seafood night al you can eat seafood, but at 21 bucks a person is exspensive but I ate my share of 20 bucks worth of seafood, they had just to name a few, crablegs, frog legs, shrimp, lots of choice of fish from salmon to halibut, calimaria(sp), clam strips, crabcakes, crawfish. I think I found a new seafood place to eat, yeehaw!!! Over all it a good place to go to spend some time and drop a few bucks, oh and on guys/ladies night you get in a drawing for 250 bucks cash!!

I have some young friends who occasionally go out on a Friday, but less and less as they all seem to work on Friday eve now. The 'thrill' isn't a big thing for them, so they tend to only go on the guy's night and risk little of their own dobbers.

I have not been to Riverwind pass it going north coming home from work. Friday nights are crazy. The traffic coming from the South is backed up for a mile sometimes, especially if there is a concert. I had a friend that had tickets for a concert and missed half of it because she did not anticipate all of the extra time it would take to get into the place. I have been to the Firelake in Shawnee and it almost sorta looks like a real casino. They do have roulette and craps but play it with cards. I guess they are anticipating that we will pass full-fledged gambling someday.

Has anyone been to a concert at the Riverwind casino? I have tickets to the Doobie Brothers in April, just wondered what the theater was like?

I saw Hootie and the Blowfish there ... we were able to get up really close to the stage because Darius told us to come up .. (which the security guards didn't like and unfortunately two girls got in a fight which was so embarassing) ... but anyway, the concert was great and it's a nice smaller venue so you can really get up close and personal.

I won $0.13 there the one time I went. My g/f walked out $50 up...So we counted it as a good night. $50.13 more than what we left with, and that was including paying for all my beer, which is no small tab when I'm not driving.

Do they actually have beer now? Last time I was there, they had no alcohol if I remember correctly.

Get Out! whoooooooooooooooooooo!!

That is awesome!

* I just thought of something.. Uncle Sam will want a piece of the pie...not to put a damper on anything but I believe you can track your losses (future) at the casino ( you might be able to ask the Guest Relations for a letter or receipt) as well for next year's income tax returns to offset your win ...ask your accountant to be sure.

But still, that is so cool!! Congratulations!

If that wasn't beer, it was some REALLY funny tasting Sprite.

I have been there for three concerts. I saw Sugarland there, also Lonestar, and most recently Tom Jones. I love concerts there. You can usually get closer to the stage, and it's a relaxed atmosphere. They are really getting some good acts there.

For a brief period they lost their liquor license. You were probably there during that time Karrie. It has been reinstated and the full bar is now open for business.
They always have some great shows. Here's what I know is coming up so far -
2/29 - Huey Lewis and the News

3/7 - George Thorogood
3/8 - Willie Nelson
3/22 - Keith Sweat
3/28 - Clint Black
3/29 - Johnny Rivers

4/4 - Gary Allen
4/18 - Julio Iglesias

Julio!!! Wish he was bringing his son with him! :love_bed:

And a handful of poor people paid for your $2,100 by gambling their paychecks away, while their children at home have nothing to eat. That's something to get excited about.

Considering that I'm older than you, that's a non-issue. Maybe when YOU get older, you'll be mature enough to know the inside workings of gambling, and the people that suffer from its presence.

y'know... i'm not much into gambling. i'd even go as far as to say that i really don't want casinos or the lottery in the state... but these comments are off the wall.

a person who gambles should feel guilty because some people choose to gamble away the means to support their families? seriously. while no doubt it does happen and it's tragic, what happened to personal responsibility? why is it the fault of the winner? isn't it the fault of this hypothetical 'poor' person who makes the incredibly bad decision to gamble the food off of his family's table?

i suppose i should feel guilty for helping to make my company successful... that success only comes at the detriment of our competitors. no doubt our success has put honest, hard-working people in rival companies out of a job. so given jsenter's logic i'm pretty evil... 'cause after all, i don't just eat steak dinners paid by poor people... my success helps make poor people.

jumping all over someone for winning $2100 bucks off of a dollar slot machine. how pathetic. jsenter, you're either incredibly naive or just a really bad troll.

So they play roulette and craps with card????? What about poker, do they play that with dce?

It doesn't sound like these are even real casinos. I moved to Houston in 02 and when I left it was all pull-tabs. I know they aren't building all these casinos for pull tab players are they?????

I went there a few times after receiving my enlistment bonus and I was surprised by the level of play at the poker tables. Apparently, I'm not the only one who's read Super System.

Then again, maybe I'm just not as good as I thought I was. Either way, I had a lot of fun, and if you can afford to lose what you're betting, that's all that matters.

Anyone else notice the banning?

I don't think the TOS allow us to discuss openly about a particular poster who has been banned, but scroll up and notice the first two posts of the second page. Look at the status, located under the poster.

how do you get Tom Jones to come on valentines day?

You pay him much, much more than his regular asking price. Casinos are successful at bringing in lots of entertainment options because they are able to pay top dollar for the artists, while only charging a minimum ticket price for attendees.

Essentially, the casinos are willing to "gamble" on losing money on the show because they know they'll make it up in alcohol sales, and gambling winnings.

It's a tricky business, and it's hurting the ability of other venues / organizations to bring in shows because they are not able to pay what the casinos are paying, and they have to charge more $ per ticket.

I can guarantee you that they don't charge minimum price. This is simply an incorrect statement. I paid more to see the Black Crowes there than I have anywhere else in the many times I've seen them.

I read somewhere that Riverwind was getting two new casions. Is there any truth to this and how come Riverwind is so poor about putting new information on their expansion projects? I would like to think with the new casino in Catoosa and Tulsa's expansion Riverwind would be sinking their teeth into wanting to remain the largest and best Casino in the state. Why not, so close to OKC, it could be a premiere place to go.

I have been to riverwind a few times. It is really nice and can be a lot of fun. I do not like smoky places, so I only go occasionally (it is very smoky inside). My wife and I usually go with $20-40 (total folks...thats it) and spend 4 or 5 hours playing slots and enjoying the free pop. The way we see it, we could spend $50 and go to the movies (2 hours of fun) or go to the casino (4-5 hours of fun)...either way, you are throwing money down the drain.

As far as the people who gamble their paycheck away, how is that any of my business (or yours). If that person is stupid enough to do it, let them. And when they do, just ignor them when they are standing on the street corner because they did it to themselves. NO ONE should step in to bail them out because they will learn nothing other than if they gamble their money and lose it, they can get free handouts...
