I am thinking of launching a new magazine in Norman. Any ideas? Any suggestions?

Well, we already have Norman Living for the post grad crowd and Boyd Street for the student as far as lifestyle is concerned. There are a highschool sports mag and college sports mags which pretty well cover Norman and OU. So unless you have an unique niche you think needs to be covered I wonder if your effort would succeed. I personally dislike Norman Living and just glance at it as is worthless. It is delivered free to my door and I certainly would not buy it.

Maybe cater to the anti-growth crowd, a dedicated passionate segment of the market, experiencing growth in their ranks it seems.

Something to ponder .. do anti-growth groups attempt to limit the number of followers lest they grow too large?

Well my concept is a free direct mail gloss cover magazine about people, lifestyles and businesses. It is to be mailed to all homes and businesses. We also welcome resident submitted stories. Its about the people the local residents. What do you think? Have you seen the one we are doing in Moore and SW OKC. Take a basic view at My Home Town Moore (http://www.myhometownmoore.com). I may call the Norman one My Hometown Norman. What is your take on this?

Do you do the one in Edmond also? (if so my apologies for what you read next) I lightly skim that one and then chunk it in the trash. It's always about some la ti da debutante ball or family that is getting richer and their new water fountain or garden in their yard, as if they actually designed it or work on it. blah. who cares. boring.

No I don't and now I am glad. Our concept is about the regular local people. I want to highlight the local mechanic, music teacher, people doing community service, etc.
Curiously, what is la ti da debutante ball? Excuse my being naive about that.

Every month they feature the latest 16 year old girl and her way over expensive "coming of age" party. I would be more interested in reading about the people you are speaking of. I'm sure there are a lot of locals from Norman that have interesting stories to share.
