Default Adrian Peterson tops Heisman List

Adrian Peterson now tops ESPN's Heisman List! Wow, this is absolutely amazing for a True Freshman, just out of high school. I doubt he'll win since he is jsut a freshman, but it's still unbelieveable. The kid is definitely talented.

Check it out: http://espn.go.com/ncf/heisman/index.html

You know, it really shouldn't matter if he is a freshman or not, unless there is a rule about it. he is definitely a top notch player who will deserve to win the Heisman Trophy.

If he's that good, and means that much to the team, then by all means, a freshman should be able to win. I have feeling that having Jason White and Adrian Peterson may cancel each other out, though. And if that's the case, Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart are likely to cancel out, too.

Has the Heisman ever been given out to a Freshman? I'll have to do some research on that. Traditionally, the Heisman is given to a Junior or Senior, but of course, there's no rule requiring that. That's just the way it's always been.

The Heisman has never been given to a freshman or sophomore.

If Adrian doesn't win it this year, he will certainly win it the next and quite possibly his junior year as well assuming he stays healthy.

Even if he doesn't win it this year, as you mention, next year is a possiblity. At least this year he's received the media's attention. That would be something if OU could have the first sophomore (ormaybe even Freshman) win this award. I doubt he'll win it as a freshman (I just couldn't see those old timers voting for a freshman) but maybe next year.

As for JW cancelling him out, I don't think so. JW is deflecting all attention to AP. He's not interested in another Heisman before he graduates. He wants #8.

Even though Adrian didn't start out too well today, it was nice to see him still top 100 yards. Hmmm.....how many games has he topped 100 yards now? His Heisman chances should continue to increase. Jason White also looked very good today as well, with 4 TD passes and 27 of 44 for 389 yards an 0 interceptions.

Adrian has topped 100 yards in ALL of his games thus far. He also tied Emmit Smith and Marshall Faulk as the quickest college running back to get to 1000 yards in his true freshman season.
