Default OU/OSU State of Emergency

Several weeks ago a state of emergency was called in Norman after OU lost to TCU. The state of emergency continues. What will it take to get the Sooners out of their slump. Will the flames continue.

Meanwhile, while OU is at code Yellow, OSU is at Code red. They may in fact not win another game this season.

I think this is expected. OU has a brand new slate of players and you have to expect some continuity problems.

One thing that could help - somebody sit Bomar down, calm him down, slow him down a bit, educate him on the fundamentals of football, and get him to practice throwing to his receivers.

Im not saying he's bad - he has great spirit, enthusiasm, and desire. BUT, football is a team sport led by the captains of the game. He is the offensive captain but has failed to provide continuity! Just look at his play selection. the ones that are successful are those where he or someone runs. His passes are horrible.

Everyone knows that passing game feeds the run game. I think if someone sat down with him and went over the fundamentals - that combined with his spirit should lift the team to winning the rest of the season.

Just for thought, OU has been on TV out here (in Seattle) all but the Tulsa game!!! OU will be on TNT?? this weekend, against Kansas. I love it, but whish OU would win more - of course.

Bomar, Thomson, Wilson, and cast should practice throw/catch so they are in sync with each other. It really shows that someone is dropping the ball (excuse the pun), and IMO it is Bomar - regardless of his spirit. Become a team player (and leader) and the team wins - like magic!!

I guess if there had to be a year for OU to be in a slump, Im glad it is this year. So OKC will have no problem supporting the Hornets!!!

Yes. However, that really is not a factor in the success of the Hornets in Oklahoma City.

Looks like Stoops may be looking to the Junior Colleges for a QB replacement, at least that's what he said in his medica press conference this past week. Could another Josh Heupel be on the horizon?

I think the biggest problems with OU are that most of the players from the class of 2003 recruiting class are no longer at OU. Thus, Stoops is having to rely on mostly inexperienced Freshmen.

I'm surprised they haven't asked Thompson to step up to the plate, with as bad as Bomar has been playing. It's as if they never really gave him much of a chance. If you want to get right down to it, Bomar lost the TCU game and got this year off to a bad start. It was his fumble that cost us a score and put us behind.

I'm not really a big fan of Bomar. He's cocky. I have some friends at OU in Norman. They say every time Bomar introduces himself to women at a club, he simply goes up to them and says, "I'm Rhett Bomar," in that kind of high and mighty voice! As if they better bow to him because he's the starting QB for the Sooners.

No, Barry Sanders would laugh in your face at the idiocy of the statement that football and OSU don't go together. This has been an excellent era of football, and now with a rebuilding year, ONE SEASON less than halfway done, with a big loss of seniors, massive injury problems, and over half a dozen guys kicked off the team by a brand new coach setting his rules and enforcing them, that's Chicken Little behavior.
OSU already has the best basketball facility in the nation, and is now building an equally outstanding football stadium. Les Miles left in somewhat questionable circumstances and it's to be expected that it takes a while to overcome that. ANY team would be struggling now with what they've been through.
And they STILL have a winning record.
What is with the hysterical panicing? No, it's not gonna be a great year. No, we're probably not going to a big bowl or anything. But heavens sake, to abandon the whole deal over two losses (one extremely close) is...well, it's something I'd expect from fans of another school about 70 miles to the south. I still remember the "Bury Barry" stickers, so patience and loyalty are a little short supply sometimes among the red ones.

I don't really think they gave Thompson much of a chance. I guess they expected "wonder-boy" Bomar to carry the team right of the bat. I was disappointed that Thompson wasn't the starter.

Agreed. They were very quick to yank Thompson, especially after it took Stoops so long to pick a starter. I remember a couple of years ago when Stoops said that Thompson being the starter would complete the offense.

Hmmm....after almost getting beat by Bayor I guess we're really in a state of emergency.

And OSU is past the emergency stage. They need CPR immediately.

Oooh, and OU plays Nebraska on Saturday? I have a feeling that it will not be a good day for the Sooners.

Don't be fooled. Nebraska sucks as much as, if not worse than, the Sooners. The Texas Tech game is the one to be concerned about.
