I was curious about how many golfers we have on the board. It would be nice to hear about where you normally play, a great course you just played, latest acomplishment, etc..
I guess I could start it off by saying I normally play at Lake Heffner and of the two courses I prefer the North. |

Played a couple times, if I do choose to play I go to westwood golf course in norman off of 24th west. Its a decent public course price within reason. They just did a huge big makeover, new greens new fairways. They are still fine tuning some stuff but it is a good playable course for fun. I am not any good but its a blast to play, at least it will burn a days time up pretty quick.

Does minature golf count?
The one time I played real golf, I was horrible, I couldn't even hit the damn ball - kept hitting the grass and then looking to see how far it went, ha,ha it was still on the ground! How embarrassing! It looks so easy on TV - we walked 18 holes in the heat, I was such a whiner! Bowling anyone? Wait a minute, nevermind, I hate the shoes.... LOl - I suck at sports.

Thanks for the info on Westwood Dirtrider, I haven't been there in quite a while, I'll have to check it out and play the changes.
pdjr, having fun and unwinding is the real reason for the game. They say golf has saved the sanity of uncounted numbers of people and there probably is some truth to that. Karried, you might want to go to the golf range and develop a swing, it's good exercise. btw:There is another advantage, a prospect might not be ready to talk business on the phone at this time, but will play golf, and there are many conversational possibilities during a 4 hour round. My nefew's boss had him take up the game just for that reason. |

Well lets just say that westwood spent well into the millions to redo the whole course. The greesn instead of being flat are now sloped adn have small hills to play over, the fairways have mounds to play around or over sandtraps have been redone some are bigger and right in front of a green or two. They were loseing golfers and money due to the renovation but are now makeing agood comeback. IMO its a decent (tennis shoe) public course, and to me as long as I cna have fun is at that matters.

I can play softball as long as I don't have to run, throw the ball, or catch the ball .

Keith, LOL! Sounds just like me.....
Workman45, you give me too much credit. Even with practice, I would undoubtedly (accidently) knock one of my clients unconscious with my swing. However, I agree, golfing is a great way to network if one can manage to occasionally succeed at hitting the ball. Trust me, I think I better stick with a less challenging sport such as jousting.

I went to the driving range after purchasing a 3? wood at a garage sale... Was doing good in b/t doing bad, and actually having fun, except for my thumb (which had no skin left on it by the time I had to stop). Then out of no where I whack the sha-who-ly out of the ball, and the head of my club decided to go flying along with it... In my defense, it was a great shot.. it went straight and probably landed 75-100 yards away (the club head, not the ball... it went farther)! Needless to say, I'm going to have to marry somebody rich (or least pay off school loans) before I will be able to take it up again! I don't think I'll spend $5 on a club anymore! And, it's an expensive sport. I'll stick with softball and raquetball for now!

I like to play, and I suck at it, but I don't have the time or money to practice and get better.
![]() I play in company scrambles whenever I get the chance though. Those are always good fun. No pressure because most of the others out there suck as much as I do. Although I don't consider myself a good player, when I do get the occasional "perfect" shot, its enough to make me want to go buy a new set of clubs (that actually match) and put more effort into it.

I have played around OKC for the better part of 30!!! yrs. now. We are lucky to have several good public courses in the local area. Lincoln West has always been on one of the top public courses in this part of the US lists, although over the years I always seemed to score better on the East course. In the last couple of years though, I have found fishing to be more relaxing!! One of the good parts of fishing is, if I throw a fishing rod it floats!!
