Las Vegas Will Host 2007 NBA All-Star Game

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- The 2007 NBA All-Star game will be played in Las Vegas, making it the first city without an NBA franchise to host the event.

Commissioner David Stern made the announcement Friday, calling the game "a merger between the basketball capital of the world and the entertainment capital of the world."

The game will be played at the Thomas & Mack Center on the UNLV campus.

Casinos will not take bets on any All-Star events under a ban proposed by the NBA and approved by state gambling regulators.

I think Tulsa has a good chance of getting an NBA team if people will go to Tulsa's new NBA Development League team and a Tulsa team is better then what Oklahoma has now NOTHING

Chance of NBA team in Oklahoma (much less in Tulsa) = snowball's chance in hell.

Why to be positive

My money would be on the snowball before any Major League sporting team in Oklahoma.

Vegas, perhaps. Here, absolutely never in the foreseeable future.

Nowhere in Oklahoma EVER.

Not Tulsa, not OKC, not Okmulgee, not Weatherford.

Oklahoma will never have a pro team, simple as that.

If one were to come in though, I think Tulsa would have the advantage moneteraly, and we have a bigger market.

How hilarious is it that all of you were saying we would never ever ever have a pro team and less than a month later, here we are the front-runner to provide temporary home to the Hornets.

And who was saying that Tulsa is a bigger market? I think you may be a little confused...

In Tulsa, what is wrong with you? Swake and flyingcowz both seem to be smart people that operate with some form of knowledge and common sense. You, on the other hand are just a hater. You also flagrantly lie on this board constantly. I don't know if you are just depressed or unhappy with your life as a whole, but you really seem to have some emotional and mental issues. You are giving your Tulsa counterparts a bad rep by being such a poor example of a proud Tulsan. At best you portray yourself as being a hater. At worst you seem to be unstable, whiny and completely uninformed. Please continue to post but think about being more constructive and honest and allow yourself to gain some respect from your peers. Really think about it and for your own sake at least stop being dishonest.

You seem to be dodging the fact that many were saying this could NEVER happen in Oklahoma, and you personally were acting as if it could only happen in Tulsa. Even if it is temporary (it may or may not be), we are most likely getting NBA in Oklahoma for a full season at the very least. Never say never.

Perhaps people should refrain from counting the chickens until the eggs hatch. It's not a done deal and it's not yet a permanent deal. Just because OKC has an arena that can house an NBA team doesn't automatically mean that we are city that can permanently host and sustain one.

The Hornets deal is not an automatic endorsement that OKC is a major league city. We've yet to prove that we can do anything more than host an NBA team.
