Default Summer Olympics.....GOLD

WOW!!! I don't know how many of you got to see the olympics Thursday night, but the USA was very impressive, especially Carly Peterson. The 16 year old won the all around gold medal which hadn't been done since 1984 when Mary Lou Retton won it. She even beat out Russian gymnast Svetlana Khofkina, who many people figured would win.

Now, Carly can proudly say that she is now the "queen of gymnastics." I watched Carly perform, and I was totally amazed at the strength and the balance that she had. You can tell that she has worked very hard to get where she was at.

How about the men's swimming team bringing home the gold? Fortunately, the controversial decision by the judges was challenged by the USA, and the men took the gold.

I really didn't think I would get into these olympics much, but every night I have been able to watch about an hour and a half of it. Just watching these people, with all the strength in their bodies, showing the abilities that they have just makes you proud of their accomplishments. Way to go U.S.A.!!!!!!!

I agree, it can be addicting to watch...I've enjoyed it so much so far. Unfortunately, I missed watching it last night, but I appreciate the update! Way to go Carly! That's great to hear that she's keeping up with the pace of Mary Lou Retton!

Hey, the U.S.A. men's softball team has won the gold!!!! So far, the USA has won 22 gold, 22 silver, and 15 bronze....total of 59. These olympics are very addicting. I didn't think I would watch much, but I have watched more this year than I have ever watched before.

One of the Russian competitors for the shot put lost her gold medal due to testing positive for steroid stanazolol. It seems as if this was the second time she has tested positive for drugs. She tested positive in 1999, and was banned for a time from the sport. Now, that she has tested positive again, she is now banned from the sport for life.

It was also noted that 9 weightlifters, from different countries, have also tested positive for drugs, which disqualified them. They expect to drug test quite a few more, and they also expect quite a few will test positive.

Today, at 11:00, the women's volleyball team will play. I have yet to see them play. I know that I will be glued to the TV tonight watching some more.
