Hey David,

First off, welcome to OKC Talk! We're so happy to have to here. We're also happy to hear that you're visiting OKC. We hope you enjoy your time here.

In regards to place to eat, we actually had another poster ask about this. Feel free to read the following thread: http://www.okctalk.com/t2151-visitin...re-to-eat.html

In that thread, we recommended different restaurants.

About our golf courses....it kind of depends on what you're looking for. I'd probably avoid Lincoln Park....it's okay, but it's probably on the bottom of my list....it's a public course over on the east side of town...the east side of town is pretty much the slums of OKC.

Lake Hefner course is pretty nice, although it's a public course as well.

Kickingbird is near the top of my list. Coffee Creek isn't bad either.

I haven't played too many courses...maybe a few other people can comment.

When was doing my reporter/anchor stint for my college TV news show, I somehow ended up covering all things golf related in Edmond.

Edmond has several golf courses that are really top notch. Oak Tree Golf Course was host to the 1988 PGA Championships and might be worth looking into. Also, Gallardia out in NW OKC recently hosted the Senior PGA Championships. I'm not sure if one can play those courses without a membership though.

As for public courses in Edmond, Coffee Creek is beautiful, and Kickingbird, the municipal course ain't bad either. I'm no golfer, but I did enjoy Coffee Creek because they always hooked me up with a cart when I went there to do things. I once covered an amputee tournement up there, was a good time. Their golf carts do have GPS and other fancy features, which I found to be really cool.

If you do decide to spend a day in Edmond, let me suggest these restaurants: For lunch, go to Ted's Café Escondido which is located at Danforth & Chowning. For dinner, go to Cascatta's, a really terrific restaurant. A side note on Cascatta's -- when I was doing that news job, there was a show called "Cooking with Carol" that taped a couple times a week (maybe only once) at 4PM when we were usually editing/writing our stories. We were usually treated to the leftovers along with the cooking show crew. To this day, I can vividly remember what Cascatta's brought, and that they were there. I can't remember any of the other chefs

It's kind of pricey, but worth it IMHO. Cascatta's is located at 15th and Kelley.

In Edmond, you might also try these restaurants:

Lottinville's- Steak & Barbecue / Fish & Seafood / American
The place is a large log cabin. It's actually quite upscale and quaint. 900 South Kelly Edmond OK

I second Cascatta! A very fine restaurant!

I'm not sure if it's still there, but Cilantro's Mexican Restaurant, 200 S Santa Fe Ave. Very good Mexican food.

Othello's Italian Restaurant- in Downtown Edmond. 1 S Broadway, Edmond
