Would you support the NHL if a team was placed in Tulsa?

Just trying to see if there is any support for an NHL team in Tulsa or do will build a new arena in Stroud.

I'd rather have NHL in OKC or Tulsa than Stroud.

I would go a couple of times a year. My university had hockey, and I went to all the games. It's so different live than on television. I've never really gotten into the Blazers, for some reason, though.

Putting an NHL team in STROUD (wtf??) would be like placing a Major League team in Managua.

Are there baseball fans in Nicaragua? Sure. Enough to put a team? Get real.

Even though I live in Houston I would make the trip to Stroud 2 or 3 times a month for the games.

Seriously though, I'd support a Tulsa team through merchandise an watching on TV, but I think OKC should be shooting for the moon right now. Get the Sonics and then the next logical step is the NHL.

Oklahoma's just not a hockey state. Sure there are a few fans out there but the average Okie couldn't even tell you how many teams are in the NHL.
The NFL on the other hand would work here. If only there were an NFL stadium here. The talking heads out there would doubt that we could support the NFL but this is a die-hard football state and there are only 16 regular season games once a week and only half of them are 'home' games. The average NFL stadium is something like 55-65k as well. OU has had no problem selling out its games for the last 50 years or so with a larger stadium capacity.

I doubt it. I would probably buy some merchandise but wouldn't drive up to watch.

I'd be more inclined to travel to T-town than the lesser distance of Stroud. Unless Stroud picked up an ample number of interesting venues beyond an NHL team, what would be the point of setting anything crowd dependent in the midpoint of OKC-Tulsa. It's just not that freakin' far, distance or time-wise, to T-town, even if you never, ever edge even close to the speed limit.

Not to pick on Tulsa but what has T-town done sports wise to even be considered?

They can't offer AAA baseball, their hockey team hasn't seen AAA level since the early 80's and their universities - Tulsa and Oral Roberts - aren't exactly top tier. And please don't bring up bushleague arena football.

never underestimate Tulsa! They will never be outdone by OKC. We get a Bass Pro, they get a Bass Pro. We get a new highway (turnpike), they get a new highway. We get an arena, they get an arena. if we get a new downtown sky scraper, they will have to get on. we get a professional team, they will have to get one. It's there copy OKC attitude that makes me want to live in another state sometimes.

Actually....after you take a long, hard look at Tulsa.....Stroud doesn't look bad afterall.

Not because it is in Tulsa but just for the fact I have no desire to watch hockey outside of Stanley Cup time.

You guys know that Tulsa is going to get something for that beautiful BOK Center.

WNBA wouldn't be off base, an AHL franchise or moving from af2 to AFL is another option.

No, I'm not on the payroll; however, if you're still around if OKC gets a team before Tulsa, I'll buy you a couple of OKC-AHL season tickets.

This is a Blazer-town and we will more than likely stay a Blazer-town. I really think that I'll just have to accept that! Hockey was once my favorite sport here.

When Carolina won the Stanley Cup, I asked myself? Could that happen in OKC!

Now that we have an NBA franchise, I doubt very seriously if an NHL team would ever come here and I doubt if we could support both.

I doubt seriously if Funk would move to the AHL unless Tulsa takes the lead.

Not Tulsa, definitely OKC, but since we've turned them down once already I doubt they'd reconsider us. Hey at least OU Hockey is at the top of their game, and having a good season. But maybe since the NBA is here, they might try to give us a team. More money for OKC and Oklahoma all together.

I wouldn't drive to Tulsa for a hockey game unless maybe it was a playoff or something like that.

We've turned them down? That's backwards, the NHL passed on OKC.

But how many people go to OU hockey? Not many.

We already support the Blazers well with one of if not the highest attendence of the CHL. That could change with the BOK center simply because Tulsa will have seats to put butts in now. Their old facility only held like 6,000 or something. Lloyd Noble is almost double that!

How about a loser leaves town match, would you go the AHL games ?

to others comparing OU "club" hockey to a the Blazers is laughable, much less the etertainment value. Heck go the Artic Edge on sunday night mens league games, same talent but the dont charge....
