Jim Traber - Anyone know what is wrong with him?

He was off the sports animal last week (maybe longer), and off his Sunday night TV show. Anyone know what was wrong with him? I heard one of the people on the sports animal say they watched the OSU game with him in the hospital.

I'm not sure what exactly is wrong with him, I just know he's REALLY sick. Al said today he doesn't have any idea how much longer he's gonna be out. Hopefully not much longer though.

I heard something vague about it during TDH this afternoon. Here's what I picked up from Al's incoherent mumbling,

- surgery
- colon
- infection
- will need more surgery to put colon back together
- in hospital for some time

Aside from that, I have no idea.

Last week sometime, I heard him mention to Dean during TDH that his ortho docs think he might need the same hip replacement surgery Dean has had.

Obviously, this is not the same thing.

According to Jim's message board on his web site (Jim Traber) he ruptured his colon and then developed sepsis (a blood infection).

Several posts also mentioned that he was still in the hospital thru Friday and could be back on the air next week.

Yikes! My joking about Al's mumblings from my earlier post aside, that is really terrible. Truth be told, it sounded bad from what I had understood from Al, but I just didn't get the whole story. How does one "rupture" a colon? That sounds dreadful.

He probably got mad at some "gutless amoeba".

Prolly a ruptured diverticulitis.

I was thinking the same thing. A ruptured diverticulum, and perhaps then peritonitis. You can get very ill with that.

It sounds terribly painful, not to mention difficult to deal with. I have an aunt who had to have a portion of her colon removed, I suppose from something similar to what Traber is going through now. She was on a colostomy bag for some time afterwards, and has really struggled since.

I'm not always a Traber fan, but I really feel for him.

Sepsis alone is a nightmare ... infection causing high temps with uncontrollable shivering, a horribly high fever .. yuk. I thought I was dying when I had a kidney infection and got sepsis of the blood.. my teeth couldn't stop chattering for hours, even wrapped in heated blankets! It was awful.

I feel for him!

He probably ruptured it by arguing with someone that:
A) is an OU fan and can't stand when OU is not considered #1 in anything or ...
B) is an OSU fan and has an inferiority complex when it comes to OU or ...
C) is an OU fan that is pissed that Traber is actually talking about OSU or ...
D) none of the above
