Courtyard Marriott Downtown renovation

I see that the Courtyard Marriott Downtown is renovating their restaurant and lobby. From their website:

Lobby and restaurant renovation from Dec 16 - Jan 31 2007. Food service will be offered in the lounge/bar area and via room service for dinner.

Anyone know why they would be renovating that area so soon after opening? I thought it was very nice already. It says that during renovations, food service will still be offered, so they can't be taking the restuarant out or anything drastic like that. I wonder what's up.

Competition maybe. I have no idea what they're doing to it, but it was pretty run-of-the-mill for new hotels and it's pretty small. It's not bad or anything, but for a new downtown hotel, it was pretty unambitious. Maye the Colcord and Skirvin are putting some pressure on. They may have also simply realized some new needs and are only tweaking it.
