Thread: Location for Olan Mills Photography?

  1. #1

Default Location for Olan Mills Photography?

I know in the 70s and 80s, Olan Mills Photography was very popular.

There were multiple locations but wasn't there a studio near the fairgrounds (maybe Linwood?), or am I thinking of another photography studio?

I have a 1965 phone book. (remember those?) Olan Mills is listed with one location. 4512 NW 16th.

Wow, thanks. So it wasn't Olan Mills.

Maybe Wagner Studios? I know it was somewhere around 10th & Penn -- maybe on Linwood.

I ask because for years, it's where the Putnam City Schools would send seniors for their photos. And you went in the summer before school even started.

There were 5 of us who graduated from PCHS in the 70s and 80s and my mom had all five of our senior photos framed and hung in our hallway. And I know it was the same photographer each time.

There was an Olan Mills in MWC also. I think it was on 29th street in the Plaza area

I remember that. But have absolutely no memory of where I had to go to take that pic. I do remember they usually had the girls hugging the fake tree and the guys reclining on the fake tree. With the fake background.

In my era, it was just the gray background.
