Chef Andrew Black (Grey Sweater, Black Walnut) is opening a new concept in First National called The Gilded Acorn.

His website says it will open in February.

The Gilded Acorn -- the new venture by chef Andrew Black of Grey Sweater/Black Walnut fame -- will take the old Cafe 7 space in the northwest corner of First National Center.

It will have a bit of a European take with coffee, tea, champagne, soups, sandwiches and deserts.

It should open around the same time as the hotel, which is March 1st.

Celebrated chef Andrew Black will bring The Gilded Acorn, an eatery and patisserie focusing on small plates and a curated collection of champagne, high tea and a coffee menu, to our home at First National Center later this year.

Does he use a name generator for all his restaurants? Adj-noun, adj-noun. I spent 6 months thinking Grey Sweater was a clothing store.

I believe you can still order at the counter until they close at 7PM; just need an advanced reservation for the high tea service.

When I look at a menu like this, I ask myself: why should I come back the second time?

Similar thought but it was why should I go the first time. Very limited menu.
