I'm guessing the pictures above were taken recent enough to confirm that they've finished dredging, refilled the river, and are ready for the spring rowing season?
What's the latest on the pedestrian bridge nearby? I haven't heard hide nor hair about in in a while, pictures or otherwise. I had assumed they were going to put in the piles and piers during that time, but I guess not?

    Photos were taken Saturday.

No idea about the pedestrian bridge. They had set a schedule but are already well past the stated start date.

The contract has been awarded and work should be starting soon.

Northwest crane has moved in a pretty large crane, it’s set up on the east side of the indoor water park. Guessing they will be using it to fly in the structure for the dome/sky light. Exciting times!

Also, they didn’t waste any time putting up the parking garage. Seems like it only took them about a month to put it together after foundations were completed. Really highlights the schedule advantage of pre-cast vs cast in place.

    New timeline for pedestrian bridge:

    4/14/24: Start of construction
    December 2024: End of construction

you have to wonder if they could have done this work while the river was draining would it have helped the timeline / cost ..

of course that would have taken coordination from the city .. (something they are not good at)

I think it would have resulted in the river being drained longer than liked. They would have had to build some cofferdams just to dry out the river bed for machinery to access the area. Now the crane(s) will just operate on barges.

In the 2nd to last photo, looks like they are staging materials for the pedestrian bridge.

Pedestrian bridge question to anyone who can answer: I thought I heard at one time that 'they' were wanting to make this existing train bridge into a pedestrian crossing. I had thought I heard that this was unused, but maybe my information is way off. Wasn't sure what other thread to post this.

There are still plans to convert an old RR bridge near the Wheeler District to a pedestrian bridge.

But that got pushed back when the new OKANA bridge took priority.

I've never seen any plans involving that particular rail bridge, as it's still in frequent use.

I think it's a different rail bridge that will be converted, not the one shown.

Pete, I know it is said frequently, but THANK YOU for your effort and time in capturing developments with your drone. You really can't appreciate everything that happens on this big projects without getting up above them.

Hope they develop the south sore area as well, connecting the development to Riversports. Would love to see a hotel or two there, fronting the river and interstate, with little-to-no parking or it very integrated below the superstructure(s).

You want a hotel without parking. Good luck with that idea.

  22. Default Re: OKANA Resort & Indoor Waterpark

i said 'litttle to no' parking, or 'integrated' parking. The site on the north shore is slim enough for just the hotel tower(s), so parking would be minimal or underground/integrated into the first few floors. This is desirable.

What I don't want is a sea of parking fronting the river (or fronting the interstate for that matter).
