Karsten Creek Golf Club - Stillwater to host NCAA 2018 Golf Tournament

Karsten Creek Golf Club, home of the Oklahoma State golf programs, will serve as the host site for the 2018 Men's and Women's NCAA Championships as well as the NCAA Men's Regional in 2021 and the NCAA Women's Regional in 2022.

Women's Championship - May 17-23, 2018
Men's Championship - May 24-30, 2018

Looks like it was a well attended event and Karsten Creek, as usual, looked immaculate. The match play format has made for some awesome watching for spectators and for tv. These events, a lot like softball World Series, helps when local teams are in it and playing well. I would assume Karsten will stay in the regular rotation for the NCAA championship. The NCAA golf trophy gets to remain in Oklahoma, just a little further north now.

actually thought the fairways looked pretty rough

On tv it might have looked that way but a lot of courses can look that way from up above on camera. Even Pinehurst looked a little rough on tv a few years back for the US Open. On the ground Im sure it was different. Those zoysia fairways are perfect nearly year round and are amazing to play off of. TV commentators mentioned how nice they were at least once while I was watching. Im not sure there are many better manicured courses in Oklahoma than Karsten, if any. Also helps that it gets so little play.

i have played there as well which is why i was surprised by what i saw on tv ... a couple of friends of mine (osu fans) where there in person and thought the same thing

Apparently there are rumblings that the NCAA has talked about moving the Championship away from an university's home course. So KC may not be a host for a while. It still could be held at an Oak Tree or Southern Hills though.

The NCAA wants to experiment with the NCAA Championships having a "home course" or a course it goes back to every year. So after next year's championship at The Blessings (I think) which is in Fayetteville, it will be at the Raptor Course at Grayhawk in Scottsdale, AZ for the next 3 years after that. I don't believe the NCAA has committed to more than the 3 years at Grayhawk but they want to know how it will work.
