Thread: Blade Runner 2049

    Default Blade Runner 2049

We always talk about urban density on here. If you've seen the new Blade Runner movie you've seen that urban density has been taken to the extreme in L.A. 2049. The streets look like little canals because all the buildings are butted up against one another with no breaks anywhere in site except where the streets are.

More density does not necessarily mean better. What I always advocate for is good urban form that allows for a sufficient level of intensity that is sustainable. Density without good form can be horrible.

I haven't seen the new blade runner but I've heard it's pretty great. I love the cyberpunk aesthetic (thanks dad).

I am a big Blade Runner fan so I made a guide for my friends who were interested.

Did you like the first Blade Runner? If so see the new one.

Did you not like the first Blade Runner? Do not see the new Blade Runner.

I really wasn't trying to make the point that more was better. While I was watching it and the car was flying over the landscape it took me a moment before I realized what I was looking at and how dense it was.

I liked it a lot, but not as much as the original.

Haha I had in my head you were making the case for why too much density is bad.. you were just pointing out something cool in a movie. I guess not everything has to be an argument

Huge Blade Runner fanboy here. Loved the first one. Loved 2049.

Not my joke, but sorry I missed 2-2048.

Blade Runner along with Coruscant (Star Wars city planet) is density because of over population. Its not density due to choice.

Those with the means live off-world.
