Thread: KTOK to Broadcast Hornets Games

  1. Exclamation KTOK to Broadcast Hornets Games

By The Associated Press (via www.newsok.com)

The Hornets have a radio home in Oklahoma City. All of the team's games -- 82 in the regular season and eight preseason games -- will air on KTOK-AM 1000.
The games will continue to be aired in New Orleans and other markets around the Gulf Coast.

Sean Kelley will provide play-by-play and Garry Vaillancourt will be the radio analyst. Kelley is in his first year as the Hornets' play-by-play voice. He had been the announcer for Tulane football and basketball.

"We anticipate a successful season in Oklahoma City and, in part, that will be due to our teaming with KTOK-AM," said Hornets director of broadcasting Lew Shuman.

The Hornets are the only team in the NBA to broadcast their games in two separate markets.

    Will they stream them online?

Sean Kelley's a real good guy, by the way.

www.nba.com has an "Audio League Pass" available for internet broadcasts for $19.95. This price covers the 2005-2006 regular season.

I'm not sure if KTOK streams online or not.

    Did some further research...

KTOK does stream online, however I do not know if they will offer the games as part of their streaming. There was nothing on their site announcing the Hornets games being broadcast.

They do most times, but a lot of stations that ordinarily stream have to pull the plug during pro sports broadcasts (for the reasons you outline above, they have to get their moolah from all of us)
I might just pony up the 20 bucks, I hate the idea of not being able to follow the Hornets.
