Thread: New Bike Path?

  1. #1

    Default New Bike Path?

Does anyone know anything about the bike path being constructed from the SE corner of NW Expressway & Portland Ave. and heading south? It currently runs south along the east side of Portland, then east on NW 56th street, south along N. Grand Blvd, then crosses NW 50th and continues south tucked in behind the wall on the west side of Lake Hefner Pkwy. I'm going to assume it will connect with Will Rogers Park at some point. There isn't any path going south from Lake Hefner along Portland to the point where this new path starts (not even a bike lane) but maybe that's part of a future plan? Here's a shot from Google Earth with the red line representing the path that is currently under construction.

It's Will Rogers Trail, part of MAPS3.

It is under construction as part of MAPS 3 and will connect the Lake Hefner trails south to the OK River trails.

It starts at the Lake near Meridian
South on Meridian to NW 63rd
    East on NW 63rd
    Southeast on NW Expressway
    South on Portland
    East on NW 56th
South on Grand (west side of I-44)
West on 39th Expressway frontage road (north side)
Cross 39th at St. Clair (existing light near proposed Winco)
    South on St. Clair
    East on NW 38th
South on Grand (back along the west side of I-44)
East on NW 16th (crossed I-44)
South on Grand on east side of I-44
    East on NW 10th (Fairgrounds)
    South on N. May (Fairgrounds)
    Cross N. May at Reno
South on east side of Reno
    Under I-40
    Connect with OK River Trail

Thanks Pete! I've been trying to determine the exact location of the path, since the cartoon is a bit vague in places. I live right near this, so I am very excited to have a direct path from Hefner to the River!

I've created a dedicated thread with all the detailed graphics which show exactly how this path will be implemented:
