Thread: OKC Buildings

  1. Default OKC Buildings

This is really interesting: From the Skyscraper Forum: We are #49 out of 100.

You can see it better here, I can't get it to post in list form here.

The # of buildings is wrong on almost every city listed!

It's a forum, the best site for info like this is generally emporis, you had to know it was off when LA was listed in front of Chicago

Here is the list from emporis:

Well that's embarrassing, but thanks for pointing it out.

I didn't really pay too much attention to the other cities -

I obviously didn't pay attention to the whole darn thing:tweeted:

SSP lists buildings 12 storeys and over. I believe Emporis has a difft criteria, which allows many others to be included.

SSP lists "skyscrapers" and not buildings like Emporis. Dont get me wrong, I like both - but keep in mind what the list is.

By the way, it does not have LA over Chicago - they are tied for the number of skyscrapers (includes entire area, not just downtown). Of course downtown Chicago kills LA, but Chicago has NO skyscrapers outside of downtown, LA does!

Have you been to Chicago? by the airport there is a "downtown" much larger than OKC's NW expressway. Also, emporis does ONLY list buildings over 12 stories OR above i believe 35 meters. Speaking of which, emporis has OKC down for a embassy suites in bricktown for ten stories. when will this break ground if anyone knows.

Yes I have been to Chicago (of course - I lived there for a time, why do you think I submitted a reply)

and those buildings are less than 35 metres due to FAA requirements!!!

Chicago has two major airports in the city with air landing rights in just about any direction. That is why Chicago has little to no skyscrapers outside of downtown. No poke at Chicago (one of my top cities in the world)!

LA's area is much more spread out, and the landing rights are much more rigid than dense Chicago. Hence, highrises are more spread out in LA area though LA cant touch a candle to Chicago downtown!.
