Braum's at 11701 S.Western

They are tearing down this old Braum's store. I found the permit for demo, didn't see anything for a building? Anyone have any info on what may be happening with this?

According to county assessor records, the same company that owns the Greenway Plaza shopping center - FLRF, LLC - purchased the old Braum's plot in February. Based on their brochure on Loopnet, it appears they are clearing the site to entice someone who wants to build-to-suit; the outline of the building is labeled "Pad Site Available; Ground Lease of Building To Suit".

So, basically, nothing is planned for now; they want to lease it to someone who will build a new building on site.

Unless I'm just missing something, gotta give them some props for that. In most cases, they just leave abandoned buildings to rot and decay until the next owner comes along, and leaves them the chore of remodeling or razing.

100% agree. I'd much rather it be a vacant lot than an abandoned building.

Which is interesting, because the building directly to the north of the old Braums was originally a Blockbuster Video store. FLRF probably didn't want a repeat of how long that eyesore of a building stood, vacant and deteriorating, before it was massively overhauled and turned into a bank.
