Thread: Amazing Oklahoma City Panoramas

  1. Default Amazing Oklahoma City Panoramas

    Stumbled across this site... Newspin360

It features high resolution 360 degree panoramas of Oklahoma City. They are simply amazing and are worth a look at.

I'll give you two links. They both contain Oklahoma City content. They may be based in OKC because all of their examples are of OKC, not sure, but if they are that is really cool.

    2nd Page. All Around OKC

Enjoy! Found this website through the popular Oklahoma City Blog, ModernLandRun

    Excellent!! Thanks for posting.

    That's a great link.

And how did they take those pictures? They had a camera floating above the reflecting pool at the memorial somehow.

    Your welcome!

I have no idea OGTS. I was wondering the same thing when I pointed the camera down at the reflective pool at the memorial. I thought perhaps helicopter in some of the pics but the downtown ones and memorial one threw me off.

I'm pretty sure it's a remote control helicopter.

There was an article a while back talking about it. I believe something about making a virtual tour of the memorial was the general idea of it...

New Spin 360 is out of Norman, actually.

Yes, the aerial shots are taken from a remote control helicopter, and New Spin owns the technologies that go into creating these virtual tours.

Mike Windham and his team travel well beyond Oklahoma to do these tours for a number of companies and resorts.

    Thanks for sharing that!

Those look to be relatively recent, as you can see the new Hampton Inn is already being bricked up.

Here's screen captures of a couple of the more interesting perspectives:

Those are some great views. Thanks for posting that. Newspin360 also did the inside of the Performance Sports Center, the facility that PBC bought for a temporary practice facility. See my thread in the "Hornets/Sonics" forum for a link.

Here is the link cited in the original post on New Spin 360 from ModernLandRun.com. It's a story that ran in the Oklahoman about the company. It's a great read on how they do it.

I don't think anyone stated it was anywhere or disputed it actually.

Anyhow, what a cool link and company. I'm glad such a progressive company like this and Skyline Ink are representing Oklahoma. I still want an OKC 3-D video game though.

    Hi,

Thank you! I do Love the capital!

    On the sky scraper...

I read about plans for possible 400 foot sky scraper being built in downtown and thought it would be nice to see the sky line with it installed in the 360's.

One of the services we offer is to create a photo realistic model of a planed project and install it in our 360 degree photography.

    Thanks!

Can't wait to see that, Mike.

But just as an FYI, the proposed Devon Tower is going to be at least a little taller than our current tallest, Chase Tower at 500 ft.

Most likely the new skyscraper will be in the 600-800 ft. range.

  19. Default Re: Amazing Oklahoma City Panoramas

    Oh okay!

Kinda threw me off because you said 400 ft. That would be so cool! To be able to view Exactly what OKC would look like with our new skyscraper! Cannot wait for that Mike.

    Hello Everyone,

This is a little taller then everything else and I believe we got the location correct. Let me know you thoughts. On newsOK, they said the tower would be 37+ stories...a little taller then the Chase and others.

Disclaimer....this is done as a sample only and NOT meant to be an accurate depiction of the possible tower, its accurate height or its possible design and is not done in conjunction with any other company. For demonstration use only.

    Thank you, Mike

I'm digging how you take those panoramics in in April/May. A friend of mine came to visit this month and mentioned how the grass was bright green/yellow. I explained that July and August are the only two warm months that are like that, but without knowing this, people can get a really bad picture of OKC being some dry wasteland.

Thanks a bunch for your awesome work. In addition to being great views, I feel like I'm actually flying or suspended in mid-air. It's a cool way to pass time at work.
