    Re: Project 180

I think if that were the case, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

    Re: Project 180

The question I have is why the city couldn't force the contractor to complete in a timely manner. I'm pretty sure it wasn't just neglect or indifference.

I suspect that the bottlenecks were the...

    Re: Project 180

I think if you want to understand why Project 180 has been so bumpy, you should go back to how it got started in the first place. Which is to say it was another of those things where a big wheel...

    Re: OKC Satisfaction Survey

Those 1200 households represent, or at least should represent, a cross-section of Oklahoma City by location, income, age and other demographics (although you don't see the results broken down that...

    Re: OKC Satisfaction Survey

I understand that's your point. My point is that, as incredible as it may seem to you, most people may actually like the areas of Oklahoma City in which they live.

I don't see anything in this...

    Re: Old OKC Jail Building

I'm with ljbab on this. I'd like to see the building preserved (this was OKC Police Headquarters at one time, btw, in addition to being the jail), but I don't know if it would make a good school...

    Re: OKC Satisfaction Survey

I decided to go on some long drives around the city last spring. I visited neighborhoods I hadn't seen in thirty years, and found entirely new neighborhoods I didn't know existed. (I should perhaps...

    Re: OKC Satisfaction Survey

Another thing to remember: like the J.D. Power surveys, this is a measure of perception, not of reality. It can be influenced by marketing and media as much or more as by actual performance.

    Re: OKC Satisfaction Survey

A few things to bear in mind (and I say this, to be clear about it, without having looked at this year's survey, although I've read others from previous years):

While the focus of OKCTalk is...

Re: Classen Boulevard - Did they ever connect?

As some of you probably know, Lon Chaney, Jr. was born in what was not much more than a shack near the lake. This was before his father had become a famous actor.

    Re: Skybird

I didn't listen to it, but 'Skybird' is definitely from 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull,' definitely sung by Neil Diamond, and was used as theme music for close to twenty years by one of the smaller...

What I remember about the Berlowitzes is him (what was his name?) bursting in on an Oral Roberts appearance at the old Christian Center on May. Berlowitz was dressed as a fairy princess, complete...

    Re: Joey's Pizzeria

I have always been a fan of Joey's, going back to when it was on Classen. It wasn't a classy-lookin' jernt back then, but I always liked their pizza.

    Re: Nichols Hills mansions

While Grand was conceived (but never realized) as an outer loop, that was about 70 years ago. I think Larry OKC has it right about the intent being a leisurely drive. More like Classen Blvd. than,...
  16. Re: Why does there seem to be more spraygrounds then pools....

I don't think it's that simple, krisb. Many people lack transportation to make it to one of the pools. And it's easier to let the kids play at the neighborhood sprayground than to load them all up...
  17. Re: Why does there seem to be more spraygrounds then pools....

The sprayground at 12th & May is always busy in the summer. That park was empty all the time until that sprayground was installed.

Re: Shadid wants to eliminate zoo funding?

I think generally speaking, dedicated sales taxes are a bad idea. They tie city budget planners' hands. It worked out OK for the zoo, but the public safety dedicated tax turned into a mess.

Re: OU Medical Center - is NOT a part of OU

This is not a big deal to me, but I have to point out that if HCA feels the need to add a fine-print disclaimer, 'not part of, or operated by, the University of Oklahoma,' that's proof in and of...

    Re: Steve Jobs has Died

Jobs genius wasn't inventing things. I don't think Apple ever put anything out in the world that was totally original, except, arguably, the Newton. His gift was looking at things that were already...

    Re: Steve Jobs has Died

As someone who has used Windows, Linux and OS X, I can tell you nothing would get me to give up my Mac, except for the unlikely possibility of key software I use being discontinued on the Mac.
