Thought this might be of interest for the politicos at okctalk. The Bay Area Center for Voting Research ranked cities on conservative or liberal voting patterns.
To no surprise, the liberal side is dominated by the rust belt midwest and the northeast, while the conservative side is dominated by the heartland interior and the big three states of Florida, Texas, and California. What IS a surprise is that Tulsa did not score a higher ranking than OKC, which placed 22 on the conservative list. Perhaps it is because the study measured cities, not regions (cities and their suburbs). OKC is one of the most diverse cities on the conservative list.
Detroit is the most liberal city, while Provo, UT is the most conservative. Also intriguing is that California placed many cities on both lists, with a clear dichotomy: northern cities are among the most liberal, while southern cities are among the most conservative.
