Default Immigration bill gives new legals 3,000 hiring edge.......

Immigration Bill Gives New Legals $3,000 Hiring Edge Over Citizens - Investors.com

Under the immigration reform bill, some employers would have an incentive of up to $3,000 per year to hire a newly legalized immigrant over a U.S. citizen.

In avoiding one controversy — the cost of providing millions of newly legalized immigrants with ObamaCare subsidies — the Senate "Gang of Eight" may have risked walking into another.

    What a load of bunk....

If they are legal then why shouldn't they have access to healthcare?

Please read that a few more time and let it sink in.

I don't like the monetary incentive to hire one person over another at all. I'd rather a business hire the most qualified person regardless of whether they are a legal immigrant or a citizen.

I was responding to your Obamacare comment so no need to read it again.

Why should a citizen be favored over another citizen? This is definitely
    anti Liberty.

They are confusing me with their lingo.....can we be sure it is state and local when they are calling it "public" benefits? Why then, were states being challenged (by the feds) when they were trying to pass their own immigration laws at state-level? Thanks kelroy - just trying to understand.......

In the memo, Sessions’ staff notes that current illegal immigrants who are “granted RPI status will immediately become eligible for federal benefits through citizen and permanent resident dependents, with no requirement that they support their household as a condition of receiving or maintaining legal status.” That means any current illegal immigrant who subsequently has dependent children, who are, by right of birth, U.S. citizens would qualify for federal welfare benefits through them.

If that bit about employer incentives is true, then this bill needs to be struck down on Equal Protection Grounds. The government can not give employers incentives for hiring based on race, which is what they would be doing. If that part is true, I can't fathom that so many people could look at this provision and not see that.

Maybe I'm missing something. While I'm not keen on the government giving ANY incentive to hire ANYONE (may the best man be hired and all that), but I don't see where they're talking about granting incentives to anyone to hire based on race. Isn't this bill talking about providing incentive to hire newly legalized immigrants? How do we know what race they are? Sure many will be hispanic...but the rest?

Given that the vast majority of individuals that this bill effects will be Hispanic, then it would stand to reason that even if it's not directly stated, the bill would be intended to benefit them. Afterall, as we saw in the Jim Crow days, you don't actually have to directly mention a race for a bill to be considered discrimination against that race, so the inverse should be true. You don't have to mention a race for a bill to be explicitly favoring that race.

And even if it isn't, giving employers incentives to hire any American over any other regardless of reasons shouldn't be legal.

The comprehensive immigration overhaul being taken up in the Senate this week could cost taxpayers $6.3 trillion if 11 million illegal immigrants are granted legal status, according to a long-awaited estimate by the conservative Heritage Foundation.

Wonder how much increase in revenue we'll receive when the vast majority of them start paying what they owe in State and Federal income taxes...

Highly doubtful Kelroy....especially how everyone refers to them as the "low-skilled" workers. I mean, yeah, it won't be too long after their stamp of approval that they demand to be paid more....but in the meantime, low wages + the money promised to familia in la patria, they won't have but a dime left to their name..

At the beginning of Ocho's work, I was almost excited that it might just work...I can remain hopeful, but everything I am reading seems to point elsewhere.....

Looks like you're assuming all low payed workers are tax cheats and slime balls that don't pay their fair share of taxes, oh wait, that's rich white guys that run for President.
