Regardless, the investigation within days of the event showed that she'd not been able to stop him from swapping out the magazine and that the fellas didn't tackle him until the was trying to run away when his gun quit working.

It only mentions 10 rd magazines.
I've seen other articles saying 15 and 30 round clips

So? Weren't you on board with the theory that stopping to reload would have made the difference in the number of casualties? Doesn't 31 dead and 17 magazines recovered belie any of that? He brought in two handguns and reloaded 15 times!

Still isn't a good argument for keeping them legal.

It almost sounds like you would prefer keeping them legal for purely selfish reasons.

What's selfish about it? I don't see it.

    She needed a larger magazine.
    Guns. Save. Lives.

LOGANVILLE, Ga. — A woman hiding in her attic with children shot an intruder multiple times before fleeing to safety Friday.
The incident happened at a home on Henderson Ridge Lane in Loganville around 1 p.m. The woman was working in an upstairs office when she spotted a strange man outside a window, according to Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman. He said she took her 9-year-old twins to a crawlspace before the man broke in using a crowbar.
But the man eventually found the family.
“The perpetrator opens that door. Of course, at that time he’s staring at her, her two children and a .38 revolver,” Chapman told Channel 2’s Kerry Kavanaugh.
The woman then shot him five times, but he survived, Chapman said. He said the woman ran out of bullets but threatened to shoot the intruder if he moved.

Excellent example of why we should never (and won't ever) outlaw personal firearms ownership! Of course, I have no idea why you would think this is relevant to the topic a hand.

It was pointing out that after 6 shots (she missed on the first one) the assailant was still a threat to her and her children. The point being, the weapons that have large capacity magazines also have lower knockdown power. 9mm, AR-15, etc won't drop a perp like a .357 or .45. You can't buy a 10 shot .45 or .357. If you have it and don't need to use all of it, that's a hell of a lot better than you don't have it and do need it which was the case with this Lady (almost)

It is just me or does anyone else think these threads about the shootings in Newtown should be closed? Nothing really beneficial is being contributed to what has happened and I think these conversations are pointless and have gone on for too long. Just my 2 cents.

Easy, just google it. There are a lot of left leaning websites that gloss over it but try "jammed magazine" and Giffords shooting. That might do it. Check newspapers and reputable links. I think even Wiki reported it. No question that the gun was reloaded but jammed. They kept reporting that he was jumped by bystanders but if you do the research, you'll see it isn't disputed following the investigation that the gun had been reloaded but was out of commission at that time. You just have to be careful and not rely on reports that came out within a week or so because it was full on things that they changed once the investigations were done.

Really? My Glock 21, 45-caliber, 13-round magazine says otherwise.

That would be an extended magazine. The standard magazine holds 13 rounds. No one that I know utilizes an extended clip as part of their regular, standard practice of (concealed or open) carry.

    Stupid? No.
    Necessary? No.
    Do I want one? No.
Will I lose any sleep if a ban was instituted on these high-capacity magazines? No.
Will a ban on such high-capacity magazines end the madness? No.

Hey, you are free to fall to your knees and beg for your life while waiting on 911 to get your location information. Maybe if you just try to "hug it out", everything will be alright.

Which I feel the real reason explaining why gun sales are well up is not because of Obama, but rather the increased need seen after these awful incidents to defend one's self from the mentally insane as well as from gun toting criminals.

idk. It was just a thought. It don't know what else can be added to what has happened and it seems like the same points are being brought up over and over. The subject points are also starting to enter another dimension. But, hey. Don't let me kill the party.

Maybe you haven't noticed but it happens on every thread. If threads were
closed for the reason you gave for this one then every thread would need to
    be closed.
