Kerry, we never lived in the mythological America you refer to.
You never step in the same river twice and you can't move the clock backwards. No amount of distaste for the modern world will make it go away. Ted Kaczynski tried to remake the world a strategy as similarly radical as sessecion would be and it worked about as well for him as it would for the America of your fantasies. Similar to those Kaczynski maimed or killed in his attempt to turn back time, I'd prefer to live the present and continue moving toward the future for as long as possible and with all my limbs intact. As for your extrapolating doom from an insignificant political homily, you assume I agree with or endorse everything Obama does. I don't. There are many things I'm not certain of which have happened so far. At the same time, I'm not wetting my drawers in a panic because of anything that may or may not change because of Obama policies. I tend to be optimistic even when politicians I disagree with are in power. As a result, given a long enough frame of reference, my wishes always come true. |

Ok, good luck with that.
Let me help you out with your Chritmas Carol deprived modern life: You don't need a 6th grade school play to sing. I dare say you might run into some legal problems if you tried that strategy. Perhaps that's why you are so bitter? Try singing at the church or your choice (Obama can't change that), your home (Obama can't change that), your car (Obama can't change that), or elsewhere that people who want to sing them sing them(Obama can't change that either). This is what what my family and I do now and what my family did back in the 1960s when I was in the 6th grade. We sing a lot so I'm absolutly certain my children don't lack for Christmas tradition. Perhaps this never occured to you. As for what happens in Boston, this has to do with me and the President how? |

Edmond Outsider - that was just one example of what you said never existed. Say you were wrong and we can move on.

Ok, you are right.
You see the past as a romantic ideal the big bad liberal government took away from you and long to live in a simpler time when all America looked like a Norman Rockwell painting, June walked down the stairs and said, "Ward, don't you think you were hard on the beaver last night?" I live in the 21st century. Now we can move on. Or, at least some of us can. Others are stuck in the 6th grade. |

Yeah, old joke. It's still funny though...
What's the dirtiest thing ever said on TV? "Ward, don't you think you were too hard on The Beaver last night..." |
