Which only goes to show that we need to be even tougher and more resolute in our dealings with terrorists and their enablers. We need less hand-wringing over prisoners with pantys on their heads and more deadly methods when dealing with our enemies. Of course when a country like Spain allows their elections to be effectively dictated through terrorist actions, it does tend to encourage additional such attempts in other areas. At least Great Britain didn't roll over and show their throat like a beaten dog.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - The Pentagon announced the death of a Texas soldier on Sunday, raising the number of U.S. military deaths in Iraq to at least 3,000 since the war began, according to an Associated Press count.

The milestone was crossed on the final day of 2006 and at the end of the deadliest month for the American military in Iraq in the past 12 months. At least 111 U.S. service members were reported to have died in December.


Spc. Dustin R. Donica, 22, of Spring, Texas, was killed Thursday by small arms fire in Baghdad, the Defense Department said.

American deaths in the war reached the sobering milestone even as the Bush administration sought to overhaul its strategy for an unpopular conflict that shows little sign of abating.


The latest death came during one of the most violent periods during which the Pentagon says hate and revenge killings between Iraq’s sects are now a bigger security problem than ever.

Yes, 180 many in the middle east have always despised the U.S. (no matter who is our president, in fact, look who most terrorists were endorsing this last election cycle, democrats, and look at the reasons why they said it), but it is at an all-time high and will only continue to escalate, no matter what we do. At some time, it will reach a breaking point. I don't see it calming down, I only see it escalating. History repeats itself. Easy180 but I think you are not realizing that there will be a breaking point, so far there has not been. Additionally we are dealing in an age where these extremists will probably get their hands (if not already) on a thermo-nuclear weapon. Decades past, they didn't have such capabilities. Heck, go back to 1988 or earlier and you can watch videos of Saddam using chemical nerve agents and mustard bombs on his own people. I agree, most of this resentment is not Bush's fault, most of it is years and years of frustration building up. He is just the unlucky president that is in office while all the years of pent up frustration is reaching a boiling point.

Not saying I live in fear or giving a doomsday scenario even though it will probably happen sooner or later. I'm just saying it can't always be the same ole same ole'. Eventually something will change. Anyhow, you make good points about the Cold War. Don't usually listen to what Pat Robertson has to say either, although I believe the same type of event he is predicting may happen. Like you say, if it happens it happens...no need to worry.

You're forgetting the almost daily terrorist attacks in Iraq that have killed thousands of our troops, government agents, and civilian contractors.

I'll have to disagree with you there. You may have noticed that I also left out the 1995 bombing of the Murrah building, the abortion clinic bombings and the bombing at the Atlanta Olympics, but I'm restricting my list to attacks against our soil and/or interests when we weren't engaged in open war. Those attacks you mention are more a part of fighting a guerilla war, not terrorist acts against an unsuspecting target. Our soldiers who are attacked in Iraq at least know that they are in danger and have a fighting chance. The only exception to my list would be the no-fly-zone attacks in that although there was once an expectation of compliance, by the time we decided to go back into Iraq it had become more of a daily ritual of getting shot at and counter attacking.

It won't be called communism but communtarianism per the UN and its Agenda 21. This is part of the ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT and the NO. American Union that Bush is behind. Since the Bush family is a biggie in Cargil one of 3 companies that supply your beef unless you buy from a farmer or local butcher. He will not do anything to protect the little guy. They have to get rid of the middle class so they can have complete domination of the population. I thought the animal RFIDs had come about because of the Mad Cow scare. Weren't these chips going to be implanted in cows so they could be tracked from calf to slaughter-house, so they had a paper trail in case another diseased-animal scare happened?
