Has anyone else noticed that not a single one of our news organizations ever interviews anyone but Americans these days? For example, all hell can be breaking loose in Afghanistan but when was the last time you saw Pres. Karzai on TV? The man can speak English yet our media never talks to him. The same goes for many of Iraq's representatives. I hear people talking about what the Iraqi people want all day long... yet we never seem to ever see an interview with an English-speaking Iraqi. The same can be said of our old allies though... how often do we ever see anything said by a member of the UK government? Tony Blair seemed to get some fair airtime here... but Gordon Brown... not so much. It just blows my mind that I can listen to BBC World Service in the car and hear fascinating opinions of what is really going on in Afghanistan and Pakistan from Karzai himself, but our national media is pretty much devoid of anything at all like this. I just can't think of a good reason for this, except perhaps lazy reporting.

We're currently self-absorbed with our own problems. Most journalists lack the education/background to competently report (or know that they're not competently reporting) on the current
global financial crisis.
Besides that, most of what you see on the news dedicates about 2 minutes to a subject. Try explaining to the average American exactly how the financial crisis was caused, what'll fix it, and the global implications inside of that time.
Maybe PBS could do it, but no one watches them.
