I gotta say, watching her introduction before her speech at the RNC was impressive. I didn't realize how mission-hearted she was. Seems like a really neat lady.

There are definitely several sides to Cindy McCain.

From Wikipedia I gathered she was once a rodeo beauty queen, & she was also a chearleader at USC.

There's also the home-wrecker side...I believe she started dating John McCain before his first marriage was dissolved.

There's also the the addiction she developed to prescription opiates, which indirectly caused one of her philantropic ventures to be disolved.

There's also the spoiled heiress / extravagant spending side...I read that Cindy McCain ran up a $500 thousand credit card bill during one of her monthly spending sprees.

And now Cindy McCain is the stepford wife who has a distant marriage from her husband who's running to be the next president, but still finds time to post fake family recipes on John McCain's website.

The side that shocked me the most though was when I read that Cindy refused to acknowledge her half-sister. If I recall correctly, I believe Cindy's half-sister was in the audience of their father's funeral, but during Cindy's eulogy of their father stated that she was his only daughter...not a pretty side.

There are some very positive sides to Cindy McCain too (charity work, public service, adoption, etc...), so she's a pretty colorful character all around.

I don't know if there is any truth to the rumors that John McCain had an inapprorpriate relationship with Vicki Iseman, but he has admitted to other extramarital affairs so he's a pretty colorful guy too.

Despite some of their personal flaws, I have lots of respect for John & Cindy McCain.

Barack & Michelle's marriage seems to be much healthier though, so if family values count for anything, I think they're the better role models to lead our nation.

Just my $.02

Yeah, she seems like a regular gal with the same flaws as most people. Plus she's actually been proud of America prior to her husband's nomination.

You said what I was thinking. I didn't want to get jumped on making the statement though. Good for you.

Cindy McCain is a regular gal with the same flaws as most people? Most of the people I run around with can't afford to have those kinds of flaws & still manage to fail up to the place of prominence that she has.

We've all got flaws, but as we put one ticket up on a pedestal & try to pull the other ticket off their's we ought to learn more about their morals & their backgrounds.

Taken out of context...Michelle's comment about having pride in her country was ineloquent & maybe even sounded a little unpatriotic. No one doubts though that Michelle is a proud American who's pride has been bolstered by the knowledge that our country is finally ready to seriously consider an African American as a candidate for it's highest office.

If that ineloquent comment is the only character flaw that has been identified in Michelle's background though, then she seems to me to be a much better wife & potential first lady.

Not that we vote for the spouses, but if we did she'd win my vote by a landslide.
