I think organizations keeping track of how the electoral vote is shaping up is more meaningful to follow.

I agree...A LOT more meaningful.

But that doesn't keep the press in the advertising $$$ because it's not a dead heat.

And you would know that because? Be sure when you come back with google info you are reflecting polls taken since Saturday.

Did you read the current electoral map posted the other day? Obama has quite a bit more of a cushion.

And what day was that? Was that on the same day Obama had a 9 point lead?

Ha-ha! You folks talk like those polls actually mean something. ALL polls reflect the agenda of the organization taking the poll and are therefore nothing more than a propaganda tool.

I don't see how polling companies would stay in business if it was perceived that they were trying to sell a political agenda. Instead, I figure it's their clients with some agenda they're trying to test out.

I hope that 10 point spread is pretty accurate. I'm all about a fun race as I love this season. Obama and Biden have been laying too low the last week or so. I imagine we'll see them be a little more forward and sharp now. I wouldn't expect a lot of movement until the first debate though. GOP came out swinging at the convention, seems to have paid off. Gotta throw some punches to win...

There is some issue going on with the concept of "likely voter". If you read the actual USA today poll McCain was ahead 4 points, the 10 points comes from only counting "likely voters" out of the 1000 person sample.

I wouldn't worry that much about it. At one point McCain pulled a +19 in a poll of the same sample size.

I've always been one to pay attention to the state by state polls and resulting electorate analysis(this isn't a popularity contest), and if you pay attention to my other thread it will be enlightening to see the numbers we have next week since the current numbers don't account much for the female vp pick.

I would disagree with you on the numbers not reflecting the vp pick. I do think you are right about the state by state polls. When will those be coming out?

Obama hasn't seemed himself lately. And is it just me or is he even looking older over the past few months?

Could be. Or maybe they are making him up to look older and more statesman? Just a thought.

There are a crapload of them that are being done as we speak in the battleground states. I'm gonna wait until Saturday and just average all of them that were done during this week.

I wouldn't be suprised to see McCain get +5 in Florida, which will be a big deal.

For the polls to be moving around in such a short period of time makes me think that people really haven't made up their mind. Some polled people may just be saying things off the top of the head in order to give an answer. Some of those polled may not even vote, even if they are considered likely voters. Who knows at this point?

I don't believe they are doing anything to his image.

In my opinion and from what I have seen of him over the past few weeks really, he has aged from when this all started. And he looks sleepier more often.

Simply my observation.

New polling data out.

RealClearPolitics - Election 2008 - General Election: McCain vs. Obama

It appears the more the liberal press is railing on Palin the higher the spread is for McCain/Palin. Guess they haven't learned their lesson yet. You would think the Obama people would send a memo.

If you look at the polls something striking is taking place. White women voters that Obama had in his pocket before Palin, are breaking heavy for McCain. Maybe a backlash from the media also.

Boston Herald is correct.
The George Steph. interview did not help this last sunday when Barak referred to HIS MUSLIM faith it was a mistake I admit. The point is Georgie corrected him you mean Christian.
It was a mistake I do not believe Barak is a muslim however what was odd was the quick cover by the interviewer.

Yes I noted that. I wonder if anyone would have made a note of it had George Stephanopoulos not corrected him?

Imagine if McCain would have said something like that. We'd never hear the end of it from the Lame Stream Media.
