Default Spaying and neutering

Do you believe every dog and cat should be spayed (female) or neutered (male)? If so, why? If it depends on factors, what are those? If not at all, why?

I had both my dogs spayed and neutered because after the feamle had her litter I knew I did not want her to have anymore, plus it stopped the bleeding on my floors, also we kept one of the males and did not want any re producing going on there, also had him fixed. I think more people should do it if they dont plan on letting their animals reproduce.
