Exclamation U.S. Chamber of Commerce sues the state of Oklahoma

The U.S. Chamber has filed suit against the state of Oklahoma over their anti-illegal foreign national law in a move that favors illegal slave labor over the wishes of the citizens of Oklahoma!

Please consider calling the U.S. Chamber by the 1000s so we can let them know we will not take their actions lightly. Let's flood their headquarters: the main number: 202-659-6000

Any other thoughts?

Why don't you point us to an article where we can read some actual facts, instead of a propogandist blog?

For one, I was never really in favor of HB 1084, and see that thus far it has done more harm than good. I agree policies need to be in place to deal with the problem of illegal immigration, but 1804 was too broad-brush, and has adversely affected thousands of LEGAL immigrants, as well as U.S. citizens.

The "son of HB 1084," denying birthright to citizens born in the U.S. is American policy at its worst.

Not to mention unconstitutional as hell as well as granting standing (which the Department of Commerce doesn't have) to sue to the first child born under such a regime.

I don't see the problem with illegal immigration. Most illegals are doing jobs we'd never do, and by sending them back to Mexico, we're not getting the jobs done. Most of them are having state taxes withheld from their paychecks. Since they aren't citizens, they don't file to get those back, so the state ends up benefitting. Some say, "well, they're using our public schools." They're paying for that when they pay state taxes and rent.

Jobs we'd never want to do for pay which is abusively low.

The jobs'll get done -- just for more money.

As for paying state taxes and rent for public schools, schools are primarily supported by property tax. Illegals don't generally own real property. You can't be suggesting that they pull their own weight in that arena.

I don't see Americans doing any of those jobs, no matter the pay.

That's because the labor market has been artificially depressed by the presence of a lot of illegal workers who are willing to work for less than the law requires and under conditions below the minimum of what is required.

A legal worker can't compete for those sorts of jobs when their competition gets to ignore the law.

I'm not sure how being illegal or not makes a difference on how a culture prefers to live.

In addition to the Son of HB 1804 I propose The Illegitimate Bastard Love Child of HB 1804. After making English our "official" Oklahoma language, this bill will require our elected officials to personally teach reading and writing this language to the almost 140,000 illiterate, American born, English speaking people in Oklahoma City ALONE. Not sure about figures from the rest of the state. I think more Oklahomans should be able to read and write English before we make it our "official" language and require immigrants to master a language that many Oklahomans haven't been able to.

Fourteenth Amendment, Section 1:

"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."

I thought that was common knowledge. I forget that people who support laws such as "Son of HB 1804)" seldom have a clue what the Constitution says.

1804, is itself, in my opinion unconstitutional because it's preempted by federal law. I've explained that elsewhere and you've probably read it in the news, but long story short, the feds have already passed a bevy of laws regulating aliens. Those laws were intended to "occupy the field," thus, any state law attempting to legislate along those lines is automatically preempted because federal law is the supreme law of the land (see Article I of the Constitution).

I suspect Major is somewhat of an internet troll (sorry, Major, but your behavior supports it). He comes on, posts his propoganda, then immediately leaves. He's not been on since he introduced this thread.

He's not likely to listen to the opponents of his views, nor care about what the constitution actually says on the matter.

Not 100% accurate. Major makes return visits to support his propoganda.
