Default Halloween Safe Night with the Blazers

HALLOWEEN SAFE NIGHT WITH THE BLAZERS
October 31, 2007 @ 7:05 PM - Doors Open @ 6:00 PM

The Oklahoma City Blazers are teaming with the Fraternal Order of Police, the Oklahoma County Sheriff, Oklahoma Highway Patrol and International Association of Firefighters to provide the official Halloween Safe Night Party at the Ford Center on Wednesday, October 31st.

This marks the first time that the Blazers have hosted the official Halloween Safe Night party. All kids 12-and-under will get into the game for free. (Free ticket voucher will be included in trick-or-treat bags on Halloween Night and can be redeemed at the Ford Center Box Office.) All adult tickets for this special night are just $10.

The trick-or-treaters will be given a safe environment to fill their bags with candy on the concourse of the Ford Center. In addition to trick-or-treat activities, attendees will have the chance to play on the inflatables on the concourse and participate in a costume contest. The Oklahoma County Sheriff will also provide finger printing.

NOTE: The Blazers will be wearing special jerseys Wednesday evening presented by York that features the Special Olympics Torch Run. The game-worn jerseys will be available for bids in a live auction immediately following the game. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Special Olympics.

I love the "Safe Night" name. As if Halloween is this big scary holiday where thousands of evil people lurk to devour innocent children. It is just like any other day of the year. Danger can be present anywhere. I think I would be more concerned for my kids safety at a hockey game then walking my neighborhood streets with them trick or treating.

This nothing more than a cheesy promotion to put more butts in the seats for a Blazers game and sell more cheap made in china souvenirs.

""The trick-or-treaters will be given a safe environment to fill their bags with candy on the concourse of the Ford Center.""

I continue to be amazed at the advancing state of pussification in America. I understand a parent's desire to protect children....but for goodness sakes.

People act like terrorists, sex fiends, pit bulls, gun maniacs, escape convicts and the like lurk at every corner....and then brag about what a great country they have.

Good stuff.

As a father of two daughters and someone who unknowingly lived next door to a child pornographer/sex predator (until the police raided his home and he was hauled off for good), I'll err on the side of "pussification" over regret from not knowing for sure everything about the people living in the neighborhood.
