Default Startup offering free Advertising

I need 12 OKC Metro area local business owners to place on a flyer to be distributed localy. There is no cost to you what so ever. The only thing I ask is that you offer an exclusive offer on the Ad.

i.e.

If you currently offer 10% for a certain service or product. Allow, me to offer the same @ 15-20%. The customer MUST present the flyer to get the discount, otherwise they pay the same as anybody else. This is a way for you as the business owner to track my progress. If you get a new customer as a result the extra 5-10% is considered advertising cost. If nobody come in with the flyer, your out nothing!

Additional perks** If you dont already have a website or logo, I will provide both for you to allow you to be listed in my Search Engine & Category Directory giving you additional exposure. The flyer gives your contact into.. Not mine!

If interested please call 708-4330 or email TheGenesys@gmail.com

*** The flyer has ONLY 12 spots available, so this free offer is 1st come, 1st serve. I would like them to goto print by Thursday

So what exactly is on this flyer? May want to provide a proof of the rest of the items, minus the ads, to see what people are really getting into.

Free advertising on a flyer is great...but what if the flyer is about some personal/political issue that will raise too many eyebrows for businesses to be comfortable with?

Lack of information is probably what is killing off your responses.

WOW!! Thank you Venture79, I NEVER looked at it from that perspective!!

The flyer is not personal or political in any way. I have a startup Advertising & Marketing based company dedicated to the local owned business of OKC. As I advertise my company I advertise yours.. That is why I put my personal phone number and email address so that you as a business owner can call and ask questions you may have...

The 3 current companies I already have fall under:

Funeral Service
Web Design
Wedding Planner

Just like me they are owners looking to reach more customers while offering a variety of discounts from other people. I personally glance over a flyer once, see who it is what they are offering and if I do not have a need, I throw it away. My flyer will offer 12 exclusive offers, giving you a better chance that the reader will give it a little bit more time to look over.

If you contact me, I will provide you with a sample and more detailed information of what I am trying to do for my community. My goal is to make a difference for everybody.....

NEVERMIND PEOPLE!!! This is the reason this City is slowly dying as far as the small business. You want all reward with no risk!!

I am offering FREE advertising as I advertise for me, NO STRINGS, NO CATCH. Yet, there is question after question.. I gave my personal email & phone number to offer you personal contact to get the ball rolling and you slow poke it.... offer is null and void for okctalk people...

And this is why you will fail. If you are wanting to get a startup small business going, this type of public reaction is not was is needed. I'm on my 3rd startup right now, slow and steady is how things go...especially when dealing with other companies you know nothing about.

Obviously the lack of information and the way potential partners are approached don't work.

People are going to ask questions. Does it matter if it's over OKCTalk or over the phone? I personally think it's better to put all of the info on OKC talk - more people are able to see it!!

Basically, what comes to mind when reading this is that you want people to call you personally so you can work the hard sell on them and sell them more advertising.

I might be wrong, but that's generally the idea, reel them in, and then push the sale.

Seriously, what business owner would put his/her name, reputation on the line with little to no knowledge of how this information will be utilized or distributed?

A little advice, take a marketing or business class. You'll never, ever make it in business if this is how you treat customers with questions. Never.

OK. I understand questions, and welcome them... however... I have stated there is no cost, no catch, no strings... No hard sell when you call.. all i need is your logo, or I wil create one for you... and an exclusive offer so that my flyer is different that what you are already sell allowing you as a business owner to track progress.

There is no sell....... I want to advertise my company and the service ( i promise there is no conflict with any business that will contact me) I tend to provide the entire local business community. I dont want to put it all out there for everybody because this is a special onetime free offer.. after the 1st 12 there will be no more freebies.

Just because a person on here asked a question does not mean they even have a business. If they want FREE advertinsing they can call or contact me via email to PM on here. I have no problem answering questions on a personal level.

The question "what is the distribution channel"... it is a flyer, you hand them out.. This initial flyer will be an example to my future customers. In my original post I stated "
If interested please call 708-4330 or email TheGenesys@gmail.com" not post a reply, so if you want to get technical those who post cannot follow instructions.

I dont mean to take it out on those who reply... It just blows my mind that people cannot comprehend the word FREE. I am a STARTUP, wanting to get ME out there. As I do that I want to help YOU... It IS JUST THAT DAMN SIMPLE...

I can sense your frustration in all of this.. and it is understandable .. but one thing to remember is that all of us have become more cautious and inquisitive.

We've all been taught ' nothing's free in life' ' if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is' ' strings attached etc etc' so it's normal to be curious about it all.

As a business owner yourself, you'd like to know a lot about the companies you're advertising with as well wouldn't you?

Just one more question, out of curiosity, what is your start up business?

Your response is very telling. First of all, I don't agree with your comment that "this City is slowly dying as far as the small business". Even if it was, it wouldn't be because people are asking legitimate questions that any reasonable person would ask. It's people like you who don't succeed in business because you don't understand the needs of your customer. You should have anticipated questions like this, but instead you chastise people for asking common sense questions. Your response is a big red flag to me. Something ain't right about this. No sale! (even if it is free)

Do you even have a website yet giving out information about your business?

(A non-gmail account might help with legitimacy also!)

I do have a website... A website I have developed over a year as a matter of fact. it is the backbone of my company. The "gmail" account is just an email.. I still put my business number out there..

In response to other talking about I should expect questions... I DO! However, i clearly stated email or call if interested. It was not in super secret code. i will be the 1st to admit I am not a salesman and nor do i claim to be. I am a freelance Web Developer by day, but somewhat of a recluse so I am starting slower than most.

My company is the not an concept or idea, but the 1st of its kind ANYWHERE. Due to my lack of budget and wanting it to be a community built company i refuse inverstors.... And my offer is 100% FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One would not think it would be that hard to give away free advertising.. This is not craigslist or some breeding ground for Spammers, so I figured this would be a solid place to find the people I need.. The fact that I am here defending myself and posting should let you know I am a real person and not a spambot or scammer. There are people on here who know me personaly.......

If a business owner wasnt afraid to make a phone call or send a personal email they would have access to a great opportunity.

I can attest, that the flyer Jeremy is talking about, is FREE, NO strings attached. He has a vehicle to run with, but needs passengers, that's you.

Basically this is what he is doing. He is starting up a company that promotes and advertises the local business shops. Why? So they can have a place in the advertising market along with big name companies at little or no cost to the business owner. Obviously it's a business, and a start up. So while it starts up, he is offering free advertising on a flyer that has 12 coupons for deals that are strictly for that flyer and his advertisement. Lets say you advertise in the daily Oklahoman. $.25 Off your next purchase is what is listed on the coupon in the paper. He wants you, with no charge to you, to allow him to list your name and business with a more exclusive deal on a coupon. I.E. $.75 Off your next purchase. If you're business receives more coupons from his flyer than the paper, than obviously his marketing strategies are working. And guess what, it didn't cost you a dime, unlike the paper, that you PAID to advertise in.

Jeremy's passion is to help the small business owner in advertising. It's a tough market and an expensive one. He's offering to do all the running around for you, just to help you out. And to do it with cheaper advertising with the same exposure as the big guys.

"Not an original concept or idea" is what i meant to state... The reason i am not quick to put myself out there is because my funding is low. If I go get investors or a business loan, I am becoming what i am trying to avoid. I love this City even though I am not from here. I see the potential, but I also see the decay.

Why do you think people are so upset ( outside of OK) that we are getting a team? It does not appear to the outsider that OKC deserves it. Most of you grew up here or lived here long enough to only see the surface. People are so lost in corporate propaganda that they forget about the little guys who care about the community and make a live by it, for it, for today & tomorrow! Here is an article abotu how great OKC:

Oklahoma earns national praise

not once does it give notice to the local/small biz owners who actually keep the money in the local economy. Aside from the "Ford" center what has Ford done for OKC's community? Sonic loves to build stores on every corner of the Metro area, but where is the Sonic Community Center? Where is the Toby Keith Food Pantry? OKC is cheap to live but expensive to survive. I moved here from Los Angeles and understand cost of living!

I just want to make a difference...............................

Kind of a key point in starting an advertising business isn't it? To see things from a different perspective. I have to echo the comments of others on here. Your concerns and comments don't come off well and that doesn't matter if this is OKC or not. It would be taken the same anywhere. I am a professional advertiser and it is obvious that you aren't coming off as one. Don't give those of us who do this for a living and went to school for it a bad wrap. I applaud you for wanting to start up a company (I've done it twice now). As others have said, startups take time and most don't succeed. Be patient. Everyone wants to make money overnight these days and wants it easy. People will always be wary of "it sounds to good to be true" deals over the internet. Post a website to show you're legit, and I bet some concerns will go away.

Good luck with your company!
