Attorney General Warns Oklahomans About Letter Scam
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma's top prosecutor is warning residents to be extra careful with mail the next few days.
Attorney General Drew Edmondson said people should be on the lookout for a letter that promises money as part of a class-action lawsuit. It also has a check worth nearly $3,000 inside.
He said the letter requires the recipient to call a law office within five business days to get a $129,000 reward.
However, Edmondson said that when recipients call, they'll be asked to give out bank account information, which could then be used by thieves to clean out the account.
Anybody who gets this letter should call the consumer protection unit at 1-405-521-2029.
