I'll start - May Ave and NW 164th. Southbound in the AM and northbound in the PM are horrible. During the rushes the 4 way stop is backed up a half mile. Anyone know how to give the city a suggestion? If not a light, a turn lane for eastbound traffic would help.

Round-a-bouts . . . more round-a-bouts please.

If I remember correctly, aren't they redoing most of the area to make it four lane and stop lights? I know they have a lot of work going on at 178th and May to Penn. Someone correct me if I am wrong please.

That's what I was thinking of. I was a mile off sorry. I live around 23rd and May but travel up there for gelato and to see a friend. I seem to remember on the bond issue that was passed in the end of 2006 that the city of Edmond was going to increase all major roads from 150th to 192nd from Portland to Western to four lanes if they are two lanes. Am I off on this?

This is what I was thinking of:
The City of Oklahoma City - 2007 City Bond Election Here are the specifics as they apply to the area: Widening: 19 May Avenue, NW 164th Street to NW 178th Street $3,500,000 20 May Avenue, NW 178th Street to NW 192nd Street $3,500,000 21 May Avenue, NW 192nd Street north to City Limits $1,750,000 28 NW 150th Street, West of Portland Avenue to N May Avenue $2,700,000 29 NW 164th Street, Pennsylvania Avenue to May Avenue $3,500,000 30 NW 164th Street, Portland Avenue to May Avenue $3,500,000 31 NW 178th Street, Pennsylvania Avenue to approximately 500' W of Western Avenue $3,500,000 32 NW 178th Street, May Avenue to Portland Avenue $3,500,000 33 NW 178th Street, Pennslyvania Avenue to May Avenue $3,500,000 34 NW 178th Street, Portland Avenue to approximately 1/2 Mile West of Portland Avenue $1,750,000 35 NW 192nd Street, May Avenue to Pennsylvania Avenue $3,500,000 36 NW 192nd Street, Pennsylvania Avenue east to City Limits $5,250,000 37 NW 192nd Street, Portland Avenue to May Avenue $3,500,000 39 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW 164th Street to NW 178th Street $3,500,000 40 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW 178th Street to NW 192nd Street $3,500,000 41 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW 192nd Street to City Limits $1,750,000 47 Western Avenue, NW 178th Street to 1/2 mile north of NW 192nd Street $5,250,000 |

Need a stoplight at the end of the eastbound exit ramp on the Kilpatrick Turnpike at Eastern. I avoid that area especially with the construction that's going on at Memorial & Broadway Extension because everybody else takes the turnpike now.

Sometimes I wish they had one at SWestern and 149th, but considering that they've only recently put a light at 134th and Penn, I'm not holding my breath.
They could have gotten away with NOT putting a light in front of Montclair Parc (S Penn and King$wood?). That one make$ no $en$e, but $omeone mu$t have had a good rea$on to ju$tify it... |
|

|
SW 149th definitely needs a stop light, however, this roadway is scheduled for major work in the near future (widening) so I doubt they spend thousands for traffic signals then have to tear them out when the road work begins.
Will be 4 lanes from SW 137 to Indian Hills Road (possibly have some turn lanes) |
|

It's about time! On one end you have the 178th/Western intersection with 4 lanes + left turn lane, which feels like it was designed to have a stoplight in the first place. And on the other end you have Life Church....OOPS I mean LifeChurch.tv.

I'd like to see a few traffic lights along NW 23rd removed. Particularly around Shepherd Mall, and Walker. What is very frustrating that if someone trips the sensor on those side streets, not even 5 seconds goes by until they get a green light.

The traffic control from Penn to Villa needs to be completely reworked. I don't know who thought those goofy turn lanes would be a good idea.
I would support MORE lights between Shartel and I-235 to slow down traffic through that area. In not too many years that area will become more pedestrian-oriented. |
|
||||
|
I would support less traffic lights in general, to be honest. There should be a traffic volume threshold to arbitrarily justify a light. At least in OKC though the lights have sensors so at night you aren't waiting till tomorrow.

Roundabouts? Seriously? Next we'll be asking for socialized medicine and other such bad European ideas.
