Default Chesapeake and Ednas

I've heard a rumor something to the effect that Chesapeake has bought the land where Edna's sits, and therefore Edna's is due to close.

Anyone know anything about this?

I will be super pissed if this happens...Won't feel right getting a lunchbox in any other bldg...Especially one with windows and a proper bathroom

But unfortunately it wouldn't surprise me one bit

That would fit the profile.

I wonder if Classen Circle is next.

Although the county website isn't always completely current, it doesn't show CHK owning that site (still owned by Scott Edna) or any of the properties around it.

Edna's is a drinking establishment (dive bar) across from Classen Circle. It has been there for a long time and is actually been host to plenty of power meetings. It's kind of an institution as far as Oklahoma City watering holes go. It's known for the personalized dollar bills that cover its walls and for Edna's hospitality and prices, not to mention her penchant for dancing on the bar when a certain song is played on the juke box.

WHAT?!?!?! Edna's is only THE "finest" drinking establishment in OKC. It's an institution. Located directly across the circle from Classen Grill, Edna's was my first watering hole when I moved to OKC for college. Back before the "ID crackdown", all of my friends and I would end every night out with a Flaming Dr. Pepper. I've been going there for 13 years (and I'm only 30!)

It's right across the street from Classen Grill, to the west. It's purple.

West across the street from the Hi/Lo club...It is on your immediate left if you are heading north getting on I-44 East off of Classen I believe...Where the streets all intersect each other weird and you can sneak over to Western after some careful maneuvering

It doesn't exactly stick out

I thought Edna's was where they have the drag fashion show. One of the clubs connected to the Habana crowd.

Over by Jimmy's Egg (where Big Beef BBQ used to be). Where Classen Blvd. used to dead end into NW expressway, before it was extended after Belle Isle Station was built.

jbrown, if you've never been to Classen Grill for breakfast, you need to go immediately.

Is the Classen Grill breakfast better than Jimmy's Egg? I LOVE Jimmy's Egg breakfast.

SOOOOO much better! It's like the difference between dinner at somewhere like Chili's or somewhere like Paseo Grill! They have fresh squeezed orange juice, mimosas, killer fried garlic mashed potatos...YUM.

God I hope this isn't true. I only discovered Edna's within this last year, and damn I will miss those lunchboxes. I like all the bars in that area; Hi-Lo, Sidecar. Those buidings are old and I can see them due for redevelopment, but all those places would be greatly missed if Cheasapeake was to eat all of them up. I wish CPeake would build up instead of out. Whenever I visit Tulsa, I'm a little jealous of the amount of skyscrapers they have. According to Emporis, Tulsa has 60 high rises compared to OKC's 47, including the states largest, BOK Tower.

Actually I think the tower on the Oral Roberts Campus is the tallest tower in the state. I'm not sure if it's counted in those ratings. I forget the name of it but its a whopping 70 or 71 stories.

It's not really on the ORU campus anymore, but you are right.

I like Jimmy's Egg better, but you can't get a bloody mary with breakfast!

My fiance spoke to Edna's daughter, Linda, who said it's just a rumor. Chesapeake has not bought Edna's. We can rest easy and continue to get our fix of Lunchboxes and Great Balls of Fire.

Great Balls of Fire is the song that makes Edna get up and dance! As soon as she hears it on the jukebox, she's climbing the ladder and shaking her hips.

Oh yeah.... I couldn't remember which was "her song."

(I thought this was an as-yet undiscovered drink)

Man- Mcguiness kids will be pissed and so will I. Fortunately I was able to see Edna dance on the bar. The last time I saw her dance she seemed rather rusty. I was concerned she was going to fall and break a hip. The kids that were at the bar that night kept on playing Great Balls of Fire until Edna gave them the finger.

Hey Edna- May I have my dollars back when the bar shuts down?
