Default Washington Redskins and the Presidency

Here's something I read today that I found to be quite interesting:

1. Every year that the Washington Redskins have won their game the weekend before election day, the incumbent party has held on to the presidency.

2. Every year they've lost, the opposing party took over te presidency.

So, I take it, the Redskins lost in 2000, as Bush took control of the White House from the Democrats.

Hmmmm.......maybe we should all watch the Redskins game on Sunday!

Add that to the Bush legacy.

1. George the elder is the first sitting elected Vice President to succeed his President in 150 years.

2. George the elder is the first Vice President elected in the 00 year to not elevate to the Presidency due to the death of the President.

3. George the elder is only the second man named George to be elected President. George the younger was the third.

4. George the younger is only the second son of a President to follow his dad into the White House, and the first in nearly 200 years.

5. George the younger is the first President not to win the popular vote, but win the Presidency since Benjamin Harrison.

6. George the younger won this year with the largest vote count in history.

7. George the younger is the only son of a former President to win re-election.

8. George the younger is the only President to break the Washington Redskins tradition noted above.

Next? Jeb Bush being the first brother of a President to succeed his brother AND their father.

Amazing family. And we lived to see it.

Your comment about Jeb Bush.....I can fully see that happening. You think Jeb might be a possible consideration for 2008? I'm thinking no at this point, but it's a possiblity. It would definitely keep the Bush family in office awhile, tat is, if Jeb Bush won. He'd definitely secure Florida and Texas......I couldn't see how anyone could beat that.

Yes. Jeb is a definate possible for 08. I can not think of anyone else yet.

I wonder if the Washington "Expos" will start a Presidential tradition similar to the Redskins.

I'm thinking it will be a Guliani vs. Clinton election. Anyone know is Guliani has any other experience than being mayor? Was he ever in the armed forces?
