BLANCHARD -- The police were called into a local car dealership Saturday on a complaint of a woman who had obtained a vehicle using a bogus check.

Knippelmeir Chevrolet's owner, Larry Knippelmeir, told police officers that he had a woman in the office who had purchased a 2005 Ford Mustang, valued at $25,000, around Tuesday, according to a police report.

Knippelmeir said the check she had issued the dealership in the amount of $9,000 had not cleared. When the dealership called the bank, they stated that the check would "never" clear, the report said.

Knippelmeir said the dealership told the woman to bring in the car for a "routine" inspection. At that time, the dealership repossessed the Mustang, police said.

Knippelmeir said he would not press charges, but told the officers the woman "had apparently tried to do this same act at a dealership in Norman," the report said.

Sgt. Dennis Furey asked the woman if she was aware her checks and bank account were no good, and she said, "They are good, I just did not have time to transfer funds into it."

When Furey asked why she did not have time, she said she had just gotten out of jail in Cleveland County for possession of a controlled dangerous substance, the report said.
