Wink Working in OKC from Canada!! I'm new and bored!

Hi Everyone!! :tweeted:

My name is Mark I've been in OKC for about 2 weeks now and my work partner just sits in his hotel room and doesnt want to do anything. I'm totally bored, I see there's lots to do but since I'm pretty much alone here does anyone have any suggestions of what to do?

Do people from OKC Talk ever meet up to play pool or go golfing or anything? I think OKC is a beautiful city I really like it here, I'm here for another couple months before going back to Canada.

Anyways hope to hear from someone soon, before I go insane with boredom! haha

Peace,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I love Canada!! My most memorable vacations happened in Canada.

First) Went to the World Expo with some friends.. had a fabulous time, Bouchart Gardens, Tea in Victoria, saw the Museum, got drunk at the German tent ha,ha.. didn't realize the ferry back to Vancouver stopped running at 11:00pm and had to spend the night on the island with a wonderful girl who took us home to her parents house to spend the night! Nicest people ever! Went back again a few years later.. so fun!

Second) This memory is one of my favorite always.. Kayaking on the Inside Passage with the Orcas.. makes my heart ache just to visualize the beauty of that place.. kayaking through the mist, the eagles, the orcas calling and breaching.. friendships forged on the banks while eating fresh salmon .. camped all week at various places and it was absolutely breathtaking .. the vacation of a lifetime..

Anyway, where were we? .. sorry! lol - Have fun in OK! Head on over to Bricktown, take in a movie at the Harkins, grab a bite to eat - Bricktown Brewery is pretty good, casual, fun atmosphere - have a beer or two and strike up a conversation.. most Oklahoman's are very friendly! Enjoy and welcome to OKC!

Thanks for the welcome Karried! I love Vancouver and Victoria as well, beautiful cities and areas. I'm definitely going to go to bricktown this weekend and take a look the pictures Ive seen look amazing! I was recently married so I'm not looking to cause trouble or pick up women haha just a few new friends. So far my trip has been great it feels more like a vacation than a job. My partner just works and goes back to his hotel room doesn't go anywhere it's driving me crazy being alone so much! haha

Anyways, thanks again for the welcome I'm very happy to be in the USA!

Mark, here's another fun thing to do:

http://www.loonybincomedy.com/ok/

I know it must be hard to try to find things to do alone! There are a few young married couples on the board.. hopefully, you can hook up with some people with similar interests...

Another thought, head down to Riverwind Casino in Norman http://www.riverwind.com/ ( right off Highway 35 ) You'll see the sign if you like to do some casual gambling.. Sunday's seem to pay off pretty nicely for me...

Also, check out Remington for Friday night Buffet & Live Music, again, casual gambling or horse racing - All you can Eat Crab legs... pretty good - with a club card, it only costs $10 bucks.. http://www.remingtonpark.com/Casino/

Drag your friend out - he has to eat!

If you like beer, then Tapwerks in Bricktown has a huge selection and usually bands on Fri/Sat nights. If you get there a little early, like 8, then you might be able to avoid the cover

What part of Canada are you from? As far as things to do - get an OKC Gazette - free metro weekly - located in most of the cooler stores and restaurants. It covers most of the cool things to do (music, art, etc) as well as the real/objective news the Daily Oklahoman doesn't.

Hello, I'm from Edmonton Alberta. I've worked all across Canada but this is the first time working in the states. I've found the OKC Gazette website it's looks pretty good! I think I'm might check out this AEP social tonight if my work partner is interested in going too.

Also - check out downtownokc.com - they tend to promote happenings in OKC. Finally, the Paseo arts district is cool - lots of galleries, good restaurants.
The culture is here in OKC - you just have to seek it out.
