Hello everyone,
moving down to okc in july to start my prosthetic residency at the OU medical center. coming from chilly minnesota and looking foward to the warmer winter. moving to apartment near lake hefner. looks like a nice area to live...my girlfriend loves to shop so she is happy we are near quail springs mall. any ideas of how long my drive will be to the OU medical center from the lake hefner area? thanks! I agree. Guess all those barbwire fences between here and Canada don't slow down the north wind much.

Well.... I am from Iowa, and have lived in Mpls... Transit system here Sux compared!!! Gonna lose alot of the "culture vibe" you get up in the Twin Cities. Summers are not as Humid here, and the Winter has it's moments of Ice storms that shut SH*T down for a few days but over all a nice climate. I moved "Back" here from Los Angeles about 3 months ago ( did my basic in @ Ft. Sill one upon a time). I lived in OKC a year the last time and the Climate compared to what we know in the north in not even close.
People are great here! You will lose some as far as night life i must point out. And anybody who has done it up in Mpls understands. So locals please dont hate on me for that comment. Mpls is second only to Scottsdale,AZ as far as night life, and I have lived in Los Angeles & Ft Lauderdale and partied in NYC, Philly, Denver, Phoenix, Baltimore, Atlantic City, Vegas (dont count), D.C. and Ocean City. So I know what I am talking about...!!!!!!!!!! Welcome!!!! |

Are you kidding me? It was white last year. It was made out of ice, but you just just said "white"...
It was white the year before too, I think. And back in 2000, after the elections (don't ask me why I remember that...) |

Better buy your chapstick now because if the wind is still blowing like it has for the last weeks you will need it. Summers are not that hot you get used to it. The wind is what I don't know that I will ever get accustomed to. Welcome!!

Speaking of wind, I've lived here going on 6 years and I don't ever remember wind like this!
Has it been much more windier than normal or am I having another blonde moment/decade? I can't handle this kind of wind.. I'm walking in the evening.. it's been brutal... it's like walking uphill even going downhill..

The wind has been particularly bad, especially this week, especially especially last night. But I will say coming from a place where the wind never blows in the summer, I appreciate having wind in the summer. It makes the summer heat more bearable, even though the average summer high is 4 degrees higher than my previous hometown. Winter is another story, but at least the dirt doesn't blow in the fall and spring.
