Thats very true. There is a big difference though. The Hornets never were ours. They never did belong to OKC. The Sonics do. I think.

Where's the gratitude? If it were not for Gov. Henry the Sonics would not be receiving their tax rebate.

Andy, I agree, the Hornets were never ours, never promised to us, and we knew the terms of having them temporarily. It makes me gag when people act as if they were/are our team and we're entitled to them. Don't get me wrong, I was a HUGE Hornets fan, wore the gear and went to the games, and wouldn't have cared if they did stay (yes small attempts were made). But I honestly knew they weren't our team, and we were told that and knew that Day 1.

Did you guys see in Monday's Sports section the bracket of "mascot" names to be considered? There was an "Okie Dokies", a "Hillbillies", and "Scissortails".....Not sure how those names made it in the top 50, but those 3 in particular SCARE me...I just hope that bracket is not the real deal......

And a fast break by the team would be referred to as "Breaking Wind"

Aviators......I can really see potential with that.
Me too. We could be the Avs (I always think of how the nickname will sound, as there are some that might be bad, even if the name is OK. Don't go there with the once proposed "Land Run".) The Cavs, Mavs and Avs make a nice little group. My favorites are the T-birds and the one no one besides me seems to like - Wildcatters.

Pretty much an apples and oranges comparison you have there isn't it?

I missed where and when the BOG approved PERMANENT relocation for the Hornets.

To celebrate OKC's generally pro-second amendment stance and complete disdain for all things PC, how about "The Oklahoma City Assault Rifles."

-- or on a more serious note, "The OKC Assault" actually sounds cool.

I can't help but think it will be weather related. Not that that's a bad thing.

Tornado sirens going off in the Ford Center. Tornado warning issued on the Lakers. So on and so forth...

1) Barons.
2) Aviators
3) Outlaws

I don't think thunderbirds would fly (no pun) either. Seattle's minor hockey team are called the thunderbirds.

Rush would be OK but Chicagos AFL team is called that.

OKC Subpoenas (You've been served!)
