Great... thunderbirds, lets associate ourselves with a dirty red lake...

///edit///

"dirty red" like a gross red, not to be subjectively taken as separate adjectives.

Um..perhaps a famous infantry division? Not many outside of OK have heard of lake Dirty...erm Thunderbird.

I like the Thunderbirds. I can hear the announcer now, as AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" starts playing in the background..."Ladies and gentlemen, here are YOUR Oklahoma City Thunderbirds!"

You could call the Ford Center the "ThunderDome".

I agree. That's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of "Thunderbirds".

Or a 70s roller derby team....LOL

I'm at a loss for a name. I kind of feel that I don't want it to be something that I'm just like.. eh.. I can't support that.

I think who ever would be on a "naming commission" that has been apart of naming the teams in the past will come up with something great. I mean, I do like "Blazers" "Redhawks" "Yard Dogz". Even "Wranglers", even though it reminded me of jeans and cowboys....

How about OKC Bison in keeping with the animal names of so many other sports teams?

Great, thunder and outlaws... Newsok.com shows that there are only over 1000 registered users that apparently are speaking for all of us. Way to be backwards.

I still like Oklahoma City Energy. They could put a couple of those devices from the Frankenstine movie outside the Ford Center and turn them on for game day. Then everyone will know the Energy is in town.

I can't think of what those things are called but they are the ones that have to metal rods in the form of a V and electricty arcs between the rods and goes from the bottom to the top.

The dance team could be called the Volts. The uniforms could be natural gas blue with white trim for home and reversed for away.

jacob's ladder - thank you!!! The name was driving me nuts. Put two of those outside the Ford Center about 20 feet off the ground and it would sure attract some attention. Not to mention cook a few unlucky birds.

Thunderbirds could be tied in to the 45th infantry division which is a tie to Oklahoma heritage that I don't find backwater.

(I am sure we all went at least once as kids on a field trip)

Exactly. Also, when they do finally settle on a name, I'll be ecstatic even if it is not the Barons. I would just like for a decision to be made.

Based on everyone's feedback, I don't see the NBA and team ownership being able to pick a clear winner. There is a lot of "love ______" and "hate _______". When the team name and colors are announced I'm sure whatever they select won't be too disappointing when the first pre-season game is played in OKC and everyone can see "Oklahome City" across the jersey.
